Yep around the matlock area, i can remember seeing them by the stream as we was driving past! Thought I must have taken something dodgy!! Not all that far from where I live!!! Its reckoned they escaped from riber zoo when that was going, surprisingly enough they are thriving and breeding!

Excellent - you've seen them.
I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of them 2 weeks from now when we're up there for a few days. Australia - eat your heart out!! We're going to the Matlock area - I think!

Beautiful and much underated area is matlock, matlock bath is great especially on a sunday when the bikers all descend and you see row after row of bikes, especially the custom ones, and despite appearances you will find them a friendly bunch! You must take the heights of abraham cable car for the best view!

If you go in the cable cars their is miles of beautiful natural scenery, and just out of Matlock a beautiful picnic area, not sure if its the proper name but we just call it Black Rock its quite high when you walk to the top and the views are breathtaking!

Ignore the pictures of rock climbers theres a fairly easy path you can walk up on the other side!

Yep here it is: http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/blackrocks.php

another great place not too far away is Blue John Cavern: www.bluejohn-cavern.com

I'd assumed you was local with knowing about the wallabies as I didnt realise they was a widely known "secret". Its only about 9 miles from where I live, and we used to go on push bikes when I was a teenager!

Also worth a visit in the area is Ogston resevoir http://www.derbyshireuk.net/ogston_reservoir.html
http://www.derbyshireuk.net/ogston0005as.jpg

and maybe Chesterfield to see our famous crooked spire? http://www.visitchesterfield.info/dms-derbyshire.asp?dms=13&venue=6012303

Wedding's at Rawsley but we're actually staying somewhere else that I can't quite remember - I know that I have to visit Haddon Hall, which won't be too far away.
Even if we're not at the same wedding, I 'll keep an eye out for you!
