BOTTOM! Thats exactly what i did! Buying kids a PS3 for Xmas so saw those HD DVD from HMV and bought some. But the HD DVD players seem really expensive. Is there any deals on a HD DVD player?

cheapest is an xbox 360 hd drive but then if u dont have an xbox 360 thats no good lool!

bluray is one format

hd dvd (is the dead format) is another, the hd dvds are so cheap coz they are a dead format and wont b made anymore.

i heard a rumour, with a little bit of effort, you can use the xbox hd drive with a tv...... let me do a google :thumbsup:

get a program that plays hd-dvd's
plug the pc into your tv (check the pc specs and tv specs)

That's not entirely true. If you have a PC with Vista you can just plug the XBOX 360 HD DVD drive and you can watch HD DVD movies through your PC. You will need software to play the movies though. (With XP you might need to install some drivers)

Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra version 7 works with HD DVD and Blu-Ray (make sure you get that version the new and latest version 8 does not support HD DVD or at least it did not when I tried)

I have a HP laptop which has "Quickplay" software and can play HD-DVDs from the Xbox HD-DVD drive. It's also got a hdmi port which I can output to the TV but it's quite jerky as HD needs a lot of processing power.

Will get an Xbox 360 for Xmas.

Thanks for the advice. I ll try and take back HD DVD to HMV. I am going to go for the PS3 and now i know only to get blu ray discs. Thanks 4 all your advice guys. xx
