Hi,there are 2 sockets on camcorder...one has EDIT L and the other is AV L,no USB socket on camcorder though.
My Laptop has only got USB sockets.
There is a lead with the camcorder that has a single plug at one end and at the other there are 3 plugs...yellow/red/white.
I can watch through my TV by using this lead.
Will i need another lead + software to do this?

Sounds like the camera has no external outs apart from composite yellow/red/white. Unless im wrong i think the only way you are going to be able to do it is to buy a capture card for your pc... oh wait youve got a laptop... argh !

TBH i think your best bet may well be to go to your local camera shop and pay them to transfer. Maybe look in your local paper for a video editor locally or try and find someone who has some sort of capture card. But reading the gear you have... sorry to say i think youre not going to be able to do it easily :-(

buy an external capture card, preferably with on board processing.
Much cheaper than paying someone to do it (usually)

Didnt think of dvd recorder jtx lol ;-)

Depending on the inputs on the dvd recorder you may need a composite yel/red/white to scart converter. Might just get one that accepts these inputs.

Hi it can be done easy through your pc just get a usb video grabber
One of these :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=video+grabber+cable&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=5217093800&ref=pd_sl_1tkzez1iml_b

Install the program that comes with the usb grabber
Plug your camcorder lead in and attach the yellow red and white cables to the grabber turn your camcorder on plug in the grabber to your computers usb. Run the program and you will be able to edit save and burn to dvd
Done this with all my old videos of my kids
Good luck ;)

Hi I used to work in the security industry (cctv) and have used various expensive and cheap ones I personally would buy a cheaper one making sure it has video and audio hook it up and have a play around with it

Something like this one and it won’t break the bank at that price
