Yep, log in to internet banking and send the money to the other account details.

May take 5 days to go through though.

Just make sure you enter the correct account number, nevertheless, I don't mind being a little richer by the end of the week :)

I work for HSBC...

Bank to same bank is instant nowadays.

Bank to another bank under certain circumstances can take between 3 hours and 5 working days, although 3 working days is more usual.

The quickest and easiest way if you can get into town is to draw cash from your account and pay it in direct, although there is no "paper trail" unless you do it at the counter and get the counterfoil of your paying in slip stamped.

If you send money electronically (online or phone) to the wrong account, you have up to 21 days to spot your mistake. The bank investigates and claws the money back which can take up to 5 working days. If the person who got the money has withdrawn it and spent it, the bank will USUALLY repay the funds anyway and then chase the cheeky sod for the money.

Hope this helps.

yep i'm with natwest & had to apply for the ability to do bank transfers online even though i had already had online banking as it wasn't automatic. they then sent me a password and then had to wait for a card reader to be delivered so took about 2 weeks from start to finish :whistling:

it takes more than 'a few days' to get setup for online banking btw

about 2 weeks is the norm.

get him to go in a branch or ring them and do it instantly.

I often pay cash into an Abby account and its same day. im with natwest so i dont know if its because i pay it in often or if they are changing it so all bank transfers go in the same day.
