Daughters friend had tickets for one of the first MJ concerts which were re-scheduled. But had already booked hotel in London for the original date. Couldnt get refund and also had to book hotel for re- scheduled date. Possibly again no refund. Anyone with similar problems?. Wouldnt it be a nice gesture if hotels would refund in this case?.

It would indeed, but if they're not lawfully inclined to, then I bet they won't. They're out for all they can get.

It's a real shame for all involved, a lot of people will have lost out on a lot of money. He was a legend too, I wished I'd had tickets for his last tour, but obviously now don't feel as disappointed, just sad we've lost the biggest musical icon of my lifetime.

Not sure if it was booked with credit card. I also think refunding ticket money will be a massive job for all concerned. And what about those that have been re-sold on ebay?

i think if bought through third parties they wont stand much of a chance but i thought ticketmaster should refund..we shall see.

I can kinda understand why the hotel wouldn't..
Those rooms that were booked would have normally been taken by someone else and like any other business they are in it for the money..

If I ran the hotel, I wouldn't refund.

yes they're refunding tickets. Not sure if you'll get the booking fee back though.

bbc news today said only people who bought tickets in the last 45 days can claim back through paypal, otherwise they had to depend on the 'goodwill' of the seller and not to expect any inflated money back otherwise.

If the news channels and the beeb are telling people not to expect their money back, then a lot of people are going to be disappointed!

Anyone that bought off eBay should read their original eBay advert. A lot of eBayers write on there advert that they'll give full refunds if the shows are cancelled. If they have worded it like that and you paid through PayPal, then the seller will have to honour their written advert.

You should take it up first with the seller, then Paypal and finally with a credit card if the payment was made from that to the PayPal account.

But not the re-scheduled ones that were going to take place next year!! Surely they would be able to fill them given the shows were in March?

do we know bout ticketmaster?! Surely as a top ticket seller....shows must be cancelled from time to time.

The face value should be refunded on all tickets - if you overpaid on the resale market that would be down to the reseller to cover the extra (most won't). If ticketmaster want to be sods they can insist that the refunds are only to the original purchasers too. Not sure if they will or not.

As to hotels. If you didn't book the hotel as part of the tour package then it will be up to the terms of the hotel. To be fair to them they will have been heavily booked for those dates and likely had to turn custom away so they are facing a large loss of revenue if they refund everyone.

through ther day i have heard on the radio ppl who brought the tickets through genuine sites, such as ticketmaster, or who whatever they called, will get a refund

I agree - so sad - I had tickets from ticketmaster and I think they said on the news tonight the official ticket suppliers are refunding

I agree with this. Not the hotels fault, and the OP booked under their Ts + Cs
