Cancelling an order with Dell

I know it's a stupid question, but it's Misc, and a morning isn't complete without at least one.

Question is, with Dell, if I order a laptop online and then subsequently decide that I'd rather not, how long do I get to cancel it? Also, if I do cancel it, is it as easy as looking up my order history, clicking onto outstanding orders, and clicking on a button to cancel it?

Cheers all

Didn't you work for Dell?

So long as you do not switch it on, you can return and /or cancel within 7 days of receipt. Once you switch on and load the operating system, unless it is faulty you are stuck with it.

The tech support department. I've no idea how things work in sales, besides the bit about lying to customers and telling them that we'll do stuff that we can't.

So yes if you have not received it yet, you can cancel, but it may be better to do this by phone.

Good, good. I was kinda worried that Dell might be one of the companies who force you to wait until something's been delivered and then return it. Cheers. Shall drop you some rep in a moment.

you can switch on and use a dell for the 7 days and still return if you want so dont worry about that. been there, done that. you can also phone before it arrives and cancel, they will tell you they cant cancel and to refuse delivery or the like, but its nonsense, they can and they have to cancel if you so choose. There is some kind of regulation or law that says they must, i'll try find it

dxx - I recently realised that dell charge £25 if you return even within your 7 day.

I think better to phone them and discuss... I try and stay away from Dell now adays...

Best of luck.

Unless you decline the windows EULA in which case you are entitled to return it.
