Cancelling and rejoining RAC

My policy is due for renewal but I'm thinking of cancelling it to rejoin (cheaper) I know that if you rejoin within three months its treated as a renewal, but my policy is joint cover. I'm wondering if I'd be able to get away with doing it so the second cover is the main one. Would it be treated as a new customer?

Yeah, cancel it in your name and get your other half to join. And do it through Quidco to get an extra £21 back ;-)

I just cancelled RAC and went ahead with Halfords. They seem good at 40quids with Roadside & National recovery and you get a 10% off an additional car.
