Ok, then Footys finished, David Hay Fights cancelled, so decide to phone up Setanta to cancel til the new football season starts, no point in paying £12.99 til August and never watch it plus theres a doubt whether they'll cover the SPL next season as their in serious financial trouble.

Got through to be told i have to give 1 months notice and hev to either send them a letter to cancel or email them, in other words they make it as awkward as possible for you to chuck em.

I was thinking of just going in and cancelling my direct debit with them in the bank and emailing them and saying i no longer want their services, but would that affect my credit score does anyone know?

why dont you just cancel the dd and then when they contact you just say "well when i called you told me to either email or send in writing so i did it in writing and then obviously it got lost! i have done this before and cancelled the dd as they are just being awkward baskets!

dunno about your creidt score, but setanta are in trouble.. Ive heard a few people say how impossible it is to cancel. A friend of mine tried to cancel and the person he spoke to tried to give him discounts all the way down to £3.99 a month.. for 3 months.. Best to cancel with the bank I think.

lol. They're desperate and gonna close anytime soon I think. Haye getting injured might have sealed their fate...They're making it as difficult as possible for people to cancel.

The only way of truly cancelling them is to send the letter via recorded delivery. There is no way they can say they didn't receive it as it will be signed for as proof. But remember to cancel the DD as they will definitely keep trying to take your money even after they've acknowledged the cancellation.

i e-mailed cancellations at least 5 times then also e-mailed customer servicees about 8 times because customer services are meant to answer your request within 7 days and i also sent them 2 recorded delivery letters, they did finally cancel, and then this week they ring me and ask if i want to start up again for £9.99 a month, even though i had all the hassle trying to finish with them:-D

The one month notice period is written in tablets of stone. If you fail to make that payment, they have the right to pursue for you that payment for breach of contract. Whether or not they do, I wouldn't like to guess.

I don't need to guess. They will - or at the very least lodge something against you on your credit rating for bad debt.

also aren't setanta getting cut back on their premiership games?

Have you got personal experience of this?

Thing is, not every company is going to instigate legal proceedings for such a small amount - it costs them money afterall.

I once cancelled my contract with Eclipse Internet, owing them money, although I did have proof of poor service on their part, they never did come after me for the money.
