the more that do it ...... the more that can be raised ....... and helps those suffering with breast cancer :)

if anyone works for tesco, they will give you a t-shirt for the event & pay your registration fee ..... just see notices @ work or speak to your personnel manager ....

not sure if any other companies do this ???

OP change the title to the "cancer research : race for life thread" :)

the more people that take part the better :)

Wow 23 minutes is really impressive.

My usual 5k is 32 minutes - I can't build up speed. I'm a little tortoise - lol

I've signed up for this too in Harlow, How do you manage to get ahead of all those people who say they are going to run, but actually walk after 10 metres?

Wow under 30 mins would be an achievement for me too. Good luck to you!

What is your plan to get faster pace?

LOL then I really am a tortoise - I reckon even with training I'd be lucky to get under 30 mins - but I think I am going to aim to build up pace

thanks for the motivation xXx

My mum does it with me and she does it in about 33mins and she doesn't train and a smoker its so funny to see:whistling:

You can do it you put your mind to it. I actually had someone to run for last year and it made me more determined.

Now you're making me feel like a failure :-(

I've never been any good at running, well unless you put a hockey stick in my hand or something - then I forget I'm doing it.

I'm really just glad I can go 5k without stopping at the moment. When I started i couldn't do 1 minute without feeling like I was dying!
#30
Your not a failure, you still do the race you raise the cash thats the main thing, im auntie only walks it and it takes her a while. It the taking part thats the main thing.

and thats the nail on the head

its not about how fast ... its about raising money for a cause which affects loads of people (luckilly i havent been affected by it in my family)

many people use the event as a goal for themselves, set a target time & see how close you can get to it .. its a fun way to exercise & do some good at the same time ...... why not sign up with some lady friends & see who can run it the fastest ??
#32
Is there an event that Men can take part in. Would love to do this,

Maybe sneak in wearimg a dress?? what do you think??
#33
I've signed up already! I did it on the day they opened the applications.

I too have lost family and friends, and luckily have some survivors too. I am running for them in the first instance, and for the hope a cure can be found before I lose anyone else. Of course, I am also aiming to improve my own fitness too... my step dad would be so proud!

I've also got a few friends to sign up
#34
I have seen a few men run alongside with the OH to support them you can also help handing out the medals or the food.
