Canon Pixma IP210 Error 5

I have had this printer for a while and has worked OK in the past.

Now, I am getting error 5 (colour cartridge not recognised). Basically, I switched the printer on after about 3 months (as I don't use it often) and get this error. It has original Canon ink cartridges. I would rather fix this than get a new printer.

Perhaps, someone has some ideas.

BTW: As I don't print much, can someone recommend a good printer at low running cost?
