when i come home ive to park on a hill then theres a path that leads to houses, well today picked kids up from school and came home and parked on hill infront of another car and there was only us parked on hill, noticed a young boy cutting his mams grass but didnt pay too much attention, sat in car for a few mins wid kids, next minute heard a sound of like a stone on boot window, jumped outta car and it had been smashed and was cracking and then started falling off, looked round was nobody there part from the young boy cutting grass, he stopped after i got out stopped and i shouted over has a stone just flew off your lawnmower coz i heard a stone and my bk window is smashed and he was like 'maybe, i dunno', what are the chances like and the car that was parked behind was untouched, gonna cost me £70 for a new window through no fault of my own, luckily also kids were still strapped in car and the glass didnt break inside the car until it started cracking

No, how about "I believe, but could be mistaken, that whilst your son was mowing the lawn a stone flew up and hit my car and has caused some damage. I admire that your son is showing such responsibility in trying to help you with the household chores, but it may be worth letting him know to check for any large stones that may cause damage as it could be a lot worse next time - perhaps even hitting a person".

Why not just tell them to stop their son mowing the gravel driveway.

it isnt gravel its grass but its all so much of a state they probs wouldnt see stones in the grass, they only do things when they are in desperate need of being done and with it being a corner house and the fencing all fallen down its a right eyesore

I'd just laugh at you, if you knocked at my door spouting such balls. No proof what so ever that the lad had anything to do with it or whether it was a small or large stone if a stone at all....let alone flapping about hitting some imaginary person with the imaginary stone.....NOW GET OFF MY LAND, BEFORE I SET THE DOG ON YA.

I was just kidding, however the best advice i can offer you is to give it another couple of hours and then throw a brick through their front window.

P.S Dont forget to run.

haha too risky as they have a security light over their gardens, if i had a driveway i would put up a cctv then i would know, had loads of things happen to my car since living here including scratches, a dent in wheel arch, driver side car side mirror cut off, now my back wimdow potted whilst still in car, lol

It is " would have " not " would of ", but surely you knew that ?
#32
all those things have happened to your car in the past? your neighbours must have a beautiful garden to have invoked such incidents, i especially like the mirror being cut off by a freak hedge trimming accident.

Karma will win this one, yes youll have to get your car repaired, but the chap with the lawnmover (who doesnt bother to remove debris before cutting grass) will inevitibly cut over his own leg or power cable.

one day.

Natural selection.

My take...i don't think taking the p!$$ out of the OPs keyboard skills is going to help - she was agitated and angry, so i don't think grammer and punctuation were foremost on her mind. Sadly though OP, i doubt there is anything you can do except hope for Karma (as splatsplatsplat said) and let your insurance pay for the repair. A similar thing happened to us (some noobhead hoofed onto the motorway from the sliproad, drove over the cross hatching - which had lots of loose stones on it, and cut across 2 lanes of traffic. From the 'dust' that got thrown up, a stone flicked up and cracked our windcreen- naff all we could do. There was too much dust and he shot of like a bullet).
Without wishing to trivialise....I'm sure there are plenty of people in Japan, who would be happy if their biggest problem right now was an insured car window :(

Current house has a conservatory with big windows on the back. Using a rotary mower at the edge of the nearest lawn (about 4m) a few years ago, caught a stone and it flew up and next thing one of the windows shattered. Suffice to say, a lot more careful near the edge of the lawn now.
