Why? If its not a hot deal, why shouldn't someone vote it cold? 1p off a Pot Noodle isn't a hot deal.

Id say its the taking over the site with 1p off grocery offers and then multiple duplicates of the same ones which are ruining the site personally

Some people obviously have nothing else to do than copy the contents of supermarket sites on to this site

1p off deals are far and few between

I dont think its ok. Its all about saving money. People who vote cold because of

a) They dont like it
b) They cant afford it
c) The deal annoys them
d) They dont understand the idea of this site

Need a slap if you ask me.

1p is a lot of money to some people.
#7
Are you over exaggerating here, I do not see deals with 1p off pot noodles. the £1 kit kat offer was amazing! If a deal isnt hot it wont get noticed, vote cold if you dont think its a good deal. But dont vote cold if for example you dont like pot noodles!
#8
I am not saying 1p is not a lot of money to some people
but everyone knows the supermarkets have thousands of them on a daily basis
Is there need to post the whole lot

And this is the reason I don't bother browsing the deals so often now. Who gives a monkeys about 1p?!

Exactly !

Certain people feel there is, but all this does is push decent deals off the front "new" deal page so you dont get to see them unless your going to page down 10+ pages

But we get all the say tesco deals on a "deal" and then every single one of them listed seperatly and they just take up space imo

So if my local shop had everything at 1p less you would have no problem with me listing the whole 20,000 items

I presume you are one of the ones who lists such deals
#12
Can you filter out Grocery deals or would something like that ever be added in the future

reason I ask is I don't have the time to go through about 10 pages of these type items and usually pop on and look at the first page

Since when? Its about finding the best deals, not really about saving money; there is MSE for that. An excess of supermarket food and grocery deals does make the genuinely more exceptional deals a bit harder to spot; the vote is there for members to decide whether they consider a deal hot or cold, why shouldn't they be allowed to reflect this?

^^ Like i said above, Its people like that who ruin the site in my opinion.... For example.. lets say you don't have children, and a few deals relating child products or toys are posted on the site. these offers may appeal to me or any other parent as a good buy, but if you did not have children and I quote "If its NOT a deal for me i vote cold" whats the point in that ?? Why should you vote a deal cold because it just does not appeal to you or maybe your lifestyle ??

The line I quoted was "Also do you think its justified to vote cold if these kind of items annoy you" of which in my opinion is not what the site is about, why vote cold or even vote on an item when it does not appeal to you??

In regards to you listing the whole 20k items for your corner shop, feel free.....

And why would you presume "I" am one of the ones who lists such deal ?? Is it because I questioned you ??

I just wish people wouldn't post deals that aren't good enough to make it worth going out of your way for. I mean like, Asda selling Pringles at 30p off isn't going to draw me into the shop. It's an offer I'd notice by myself if I was already in there (especially since these offers tend to draw attention to themselves with their placement and surrounding advertising), making it pointless advertising it here. Buy 1 get 2 free though, and the deal becomes enticing to the point that I might go the extra to get to Asda rather than my normal place.

To be honest, I get the impression that people post the minor-saving deals for no reason other than out of some obsessive desire to post as much as possible. I think the fact that only apologists are in support of them demonstrates that they're of no use to anyone.

Exactly, and a good example too. Pringles are a perma-sale item; does anyone ever pay full price for them? It seems literally ever other week they will be 'half-price' at atleast half the major supermarkets, so anything worse that that isn't what I would consider a good deal and I would happily vote cold. Similar with so many other supermarket items too; given every supermarket probably has around 200 'deals' changing every week, they do clutter the site if people are only allowed a one-way vote on them and thus by definition the get hot and make the front-page.

Very good point

Hopefully some of the serial 1p off posters are reading this thread and might think twice before they post as its generally the same people who wait one month to the day before posting the same rubbish again so it doesnt get deleted as a duplicate

Your correct tho that some post as much rubbish as they can because they are addicted to posting and cant come up with real HOT deals that you would go out of your way to get.

I see what you mean, its almost funny that you see someone voting a deal cold like Tesco's cola being reduced maybe because Its not at nice tasting as Coca Cola or voting cold as an item may not be in their store(except when say its a sale item that may have 1 per store or 1 per few stores)
#24
Maybe a new tab with just Grocery items might help but going through pages and pages of Tesco type items is a pain.

On the front page when I looked had 3 offers all the same but different sweets ie jelly tots, jelly babies and winegums or something similar
could they all not have been on the same post as they all had the same price reduction

I was thinking the same myself last night when a certain member posted winegums, jelly babies and milka boxes all half price at tesco and they could and SHOULD have been on the same post rather than that member posting them all seperatly and taking up space on the site whilst pushing real deals further down and off the first page, meaning people will either have to flick thru page after page to search or miss real hot deals

You really need to justify a statement like that. A deal for 1p off a pot-noodle would annoy me, and I would vote it cold - do you hope that I would get banned for that? The whole point of a voting system is to attempt to rank the deals which people genuinely consider hot above the others; how is voting a bad deal cold abuse of that system?

yes, it is a clear abuse of the voting system which is ALWAYS based on cheapest price, not that they annoy you cos you dont know how to use a scroll mouse ;)

I voted CD deals cold when they took over the site and got a 3 day ban so its not like they should treat you as a special case (or maybe they should? :p )

What the hell are you talking about
example if something is on offer at say 1p cheaper and i see it 2p cheaper somewhere else its not a deal for me so i vote cold
If its on offer at say £3 and i can only see it at £3.50 elsewhere its a deal for me so i vote hot

what don't you get about that
Think you are getting confused with "if its not a deal for me" ie meaning if i don't think its a deal
and anyway I will vote whatever way I want based on what i consider a deal.

Are you thick
if it was a deal that did not apply to me example makeup = i do not vote
if its not a deal to me ie cheaper = then i vote cold

check the word apply thats the difference

anyway whatever some think my opinion is there is to much Grocery items on the front page and maybe they could have a tag of their own

you are obviously the thick one as you cannot construct even basic English sentences that make any sense! I won't even mention your complete inability to use punctuation.

I must admit people posting deal after deal that could all be put in one post annoys me. Im not sure why they do it surely it's not to get heat, there isn't exactly a reward for it.
The sweets deals for example like other posters above have said, it's just time wasting for the poster and others reading it, putting them all in one post would be much better. It's a shame mods can't create a new thread when they see this happening and put them all into that one thread.

Another good example of sweets type of deals on today

One post placed last week for large toblerones for £2 at Tesco and today the same original poster puts another new post on for a different flavour of toblerone , same price , same store on.

There is just no need for it unless there is a secret competition I dont know about for placing as many items as you possibly can, either that or the poster has nothing else to do than try to fill this site up and stop people finding REAL HOT DEALS

Nice way to sidestep the point with a non-answer. Where have mods said that voting is ONLY based on cheapest price? Where have they explicitly stated what a member can and can't vote hot or cold for?

Have you actually thought about how ridiculous a system where a vote could only be based on cheapest price would be: product (A) is £499.99 at John Lewis and £499.98 at an anonymous Amazon marketplace seller with 50% feedback score and £600 everywhere else - are you saying it would have to be cold at JL and hot at Amazon marketplace?

You should answer with links and facts rather than calling people idiots, saying you 'hope they get banned' and generally ignoring the code of conduct (which, incidentaly, makes no statement on what are valid or invalid reasons for voting on a deal).

Could mods confirm is it ok to vote a deal cold if its only a few pence of a shopping item.
