with all this cold weather are you sure its not just the battery or poss alternator

Does it feel like it's stalling?

My Vectra did this - the throttle body & idle valve needed a good cleaning out.

please dont say you are taking it to another vauxhall service centre?

OP that sounds about right for vauxhall, those 1.7diesels are a bloody nightmare & expensive when they go wrong, have a look on bba-reman forums, they sell/repair a wide range of ecu's. pumps, etc etc. We have used them in the past for a cheaper alternative.

1. You've deffo not put petrol in it? (gotta ask!)
2. Could be many things to be honest. I would start with ensuring filters are changed. When did it last have a service?
3. Then I would consider idle control valve & sensors. Air Flow sensor maybe.

It's a massive pain in the ****, but trial and error is the only way to work our problems like this. Best of luck.

That's the advice the op should take, I had a Fiat with dodgy throttle control unit, Had mechanic clean it out and it was fine.

If I remember rightly only cost an hours labour, Much cheaper to try cleaning them up before blowing £xxx on a new one.

Fiat wanted £500 for one.

Sorry but their "tests" cannot be conclusive. Various codes are reported by a cars ECU however they can relate to a number of faults. They've obviously gone with the most expensive option.

ALWAYS get a 2nd or 3rd opinion.

Yes could be, However as said could be multiple things.

Has it ran out of diesel recently? Perhaps it could have an airlock, Sometimes that would throw up similar codes?

You might be better looking for answers on this forum here

What about when it's warm? If it starts fine on cold but not warm it could be camshaft sensor.

I had a similar problem with my vauxhall and the garage also quoted me a similar amount. I did a bit of research and found out it was the ECU that causes it and a large amount of Vauxhall diesels suffered from faulty units. I found a guy on ebay who swapped my ecu for a repaired one for £80 and it took 5 minutes to fit it. problem solved.

Try pushing the dials in really hard the dials contain the immobilizer and the connection is dodgy sounds exactly like this. Does a car with a spanner light flash loads when you try starting it up?

Also try posting on http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/forum.php:) Also, get the garage to read the codes and show them to you then post them up on ccuk

Edit, just noticed its a Corsa B I think so the above is obsolete. Try http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/index.php:)
