Car accident

nemeannemean

Hey somebody hit into me in a car park back in august and due to the damage my car was written off as its only a fiat punt so pretty cheap. I decided to buy it back at the low price rather than it being scrapped and i got everything sorted with it. I have just noticed while it was parked at work somebody has hit into me. I will be checking the security footage later to see who this was. My question is if my car has been hit what will the insurance do as the car has already been written off? will i only be insured for the value which i bought the car back at? Or the full value?

Thanks.

Similar has happened to a write off we sold. The person got paid out the full value again. Not sure if that was a mistake though.

im sure the price would be higher as you have put some work in to get it road worthy etc etc. but your going to get bent over when your renewal comes round.

You have been hit twice whilst parked? You are either the most unlucky person I know or you park like a ****.

Check your policy, as you will very likely be insured for the cost of replacing your car for one of similar age & condition. Your insurance company may try to fob you off with a small settlement figure - get some reasonable quotes for cars similar in age & mileage to yours & offer them to the insurance company to support your claim.

The first was In a car park while I was on my way out he did not see the give way sign and was speeding.
Thanks for the help but looks like it does not matter as the car has not been caught on CCTV there is an hour where a van is parked in the way. So seems like I will have to pay out because somebody else does not know how to drive.

Many years ago our old Montego was written off three times in around three months; each time we got the same payout.

Sorry you didn't catch the so-and-so.

I hate the way so many folk will hit your car in the car park and just walk or drive away. I was sat in my car in the Tesco car park the other week when the car ahead reversed into me, as I was getting out to check the damage the silly sod the other side opened their door into me (my own fault for using Tescos).

i think you get what the book price is.my car has just been written off - and i got what was inbetween the 'buy and sell' price - so i was told - i haggled it up a bit as it had low milage ........... but can't get another for the same price as the garages are selling the same thing for a higher rate ....... its pants ! But i think what i am trying to say is you get the 'book' price - i think, even if you have already claimed ......... your insurance company will have a value depending on the year and milage and thats what they offer.

(and sorry about the spelling !)
