Ford usually do a free insurance deal - however all depends on your age... cos often if you are below a certain age ie 21 then they won't do free ins. HTH

well if u could stand the embarrasment of being in a Dawoo Matiz (51 plate) I will be selling mines soon. My fab hubby has bought me a Suzuki Jimny - which I have always wanted!! But my sister is using it just now due to her having an accident at weekend and her car being written off

lol id look right good in that

Your first mistake is that you've gone fully comp. Does tpft make a big dent on the quotes? (should do).

Try Citroen/Pug as they try to coax young drivers in with the free insurance perk.

we are actually seriously thinking of "donating" it to Robin House (down in Balloch) loads of reasons for us wanting to do that.

You will def get a car easily in ur insurance bracket - check gumtree as loads on there

That's the first time I've heard of it halving the premium just because you've taken fully comp the first year?

Also have you done pass plus, £120 odd and it should reduce your premium by more than that. It shows you're bothered about being a good driver who is aware of the associated risks instead of a new kid who is fresh off the block and wants to get out there tearing it up

Bossy boots, gimme a shout when you want to get rid please.

not many companies take it and those who do are usually just as cheap as the rest after they give u the elusive discount

Therefore the course for free?

I did it, I still refer to the teachings now. Helped me get my police driving qualifications on first attempt too

Do you live in central London or something?!?! I have NO idea how you're getting quotes of over £2k... I had a new 206 when I passed at 17 and that was only £800 fully comp... Now I'm 22 and pay £600 odd for a 3.5l car.. If you don't live at home, try registering it back there if it's a more rural area... it'll reduce your premium a lot.

yip, and I dont bother parking it in our garage at night, I just lift it in to the kitchen

been a great wee car - past two years passed MOT no probs and only 40k on the clock which is great for a car like that, but always wanted a bigger car but would never ever get into debt for a set of wheels - then few weeks ago Mr Grim Reaper announced he had bought me this jeep :-D
