Anyone got any tips for keeping cars nice and clean during these winter months, especially with all the salt on the roads. Picked up my new black car on Saturday and its already getting dirty

all you can really do is keep washing it. Ideally you'd get a good build up of wax on the paintwork and wheels for winter, but its a bit cold at the moment for the wax to work properly. Obviously wash it by hand and use a half decent shampoo and you should keep the paintwork in decent condition, although in the winter weather unless you wash it daily a black car is always going to look scruffy!

1. NEVER use a sponge for cleaning your car. (buy a decent wash mitt)
2. Buy some collonite wax for the bodywork
3. If your car has alloys buy some poorboys wheel sealer
4. NEVER use a chamois to dry the car (use a proper drying waffle towel)
5. Always use the 2 bucket method
6. Get some decent microfibre towels for waxing, buffing and general cleaning.

You can spend hundreds of pounds on cleaning kit and several hours cleaning but the finished article and long lasting look of the car will be worth every minute.

A decade ago when I bought my car I think I paid £200 on top to have it treated by diamondbrite and she still looks as good as new but it's a weekly thang to get that glass look, but it's not an effort when you see the end result, just wash and dry and stand back!!

For your nearest Diamondbrite Centre please contact us on 01622 816108 or contact us HERE

Exterior Protection:

Due to environmental demands, car manufacturers now have to use water based paints. These while being environmentally safe, are prone to fading and oxidization.

Diamondbrite is made from refined rock oils that are formulated into a two stage process so that each product compliments the next and builds up to create a tough durable glaze. If the entire process is carried out by an approved Diamondbrite applicator, the resulting protective finish is guaranteed for six years from the date the product is applied.

The hard, high gloss protective skin that Diamondbrite creates, prevents road salts, traffic film, acid rain, tree sap, insect fluid and other atmospheric pollutants from contacting directly with your cars paintwork. Fading from ultraviolet light is virtually eliminated as is nitrate etching caused by bird droppings (as long as it is washed off within 7 Days and retreated with Diamondbrite Conserver).

Once treated with the Diamondbrite process you will never have to polish your car again. Your vehicle will look as good as it did when it left the showroom thereby improving its resale value. Another major benefit of Diamondbrite’s high gloss finish is the ease with which dirt and grime is washed off the paintwork.

To maintain the vehicles appearance, simply wash down using Diamondbrite Car Shampoo followed by use of the Conserver on a monthly basis (as a rinse aid not a polish). This product is supplied when the Diamondbrite is applied. Further supplies of these products can be obtained from your dealer or direct from Jewelultra. The worlds leading airlines use Conserver to protect the paint on their aircraft.

The vehicle can be washed as many times as required. The use of the Conserver maintains the protection and if used monthly will ensure maximum protection for 6 years. Certain other competitors products available do not have a maintenance procedure as part of the process. It has been proven that with these products, after a few months of normal use will deplete and eventually disappear altogether leaving no protection.

In order to maintain the paint and fabric protection to its optimum level an annual inspection is recommended. This inspection is normally carried out by your supplying dealer.

With Diamondbrite the vehicle can be passed through a car wash or jet wash as many times as necessary, as long as 25ml of Conserver is placed on the front panels and bonnet. The car wash/jet wash will then distribute the chemical all over the paint ensuring continued protection. It should be noted that Jewelultra do not recommend the use of mechanical car washes as it has been known for them in extreme cases to remove pieces of trim and scratch paintwork.

Yes, Garage, My garage quoted me £25 for my Ford Galaxy to be done, But that's a discounted rate because it's my regular.

I assume a normal sized car would cost about £30 at most garages, It's a 5 minute job for them, Hardly any labour involved as they just spray it on.

You can buy it from Halford etc... and do it yourself, Either by painting it on or spray.

You just have to avoid any hot spots, Obviously don't put it anywhere near the catalyst or exhaust system.

The thing is, keeping it in tip top condition throughout the winter is vital.

One of the most important things you should do is apply a coat or 2 of a decent wax. It will protect the car from the winter elements and also make washing the car easier in the future.

I use collonite 915 and it is easy to use. It's from america and you can get it from ebay.

Will send you a link if you want it?
