Summer is coming, its time for me to start cleaning my car again, except this time i want to do it well. does anyone have any tips?

i have a few accessories but they aren't that great, so i think i may need to go out and buy more, but this isn't the point of this thread.

what i want to know is how to do it well, up to now i've only ever used car "shampoo", but i want to start using polish and wax, but last time i tried to wax it, it ended up a mess, half my car was white, and it took a lot of rubbing to get it back to green.

i was wondering if any of you know where i can get information about this stuff, or someone i can ask.

also, does anyone know if scratch removers work? i have a lot of light scratches i'd like to "remove".

TIA

mer. get mer polish, it can help to 'remove' scratches, and then mix some with a bucket of water to wash n wax your car.

is it fairly idiot proof to use? are they any particular cloths/pads i should use? when i buy some halford cloths it seems i get a lot of ***** coming off the cloth.

you are buying the wrong cloth, normal stockinette always has bits come off it, get the halfords valeting cloths, much much better!

and mer is very idiot proof, you can even use it on glass i believe!

Pay someone to do your car! lol

I have just finished doing mine. Has taken me 2 days! :? But my paintwork had faded tho...but now its looking good as new!! (well, kinda!)

I used T-Cut, very good stuff!!! (I think you can get it from Tesco too!) Just dont get it on any trim and dont leave it on for too long, also, do a little bit at a time! Don't do the whole car then polish it over as it will take you weeks!! :?

For cleaning glass, I used Mr Muscle window cleanner....good stuff too!!!

Another tip is elbow grease does all the work! None of these fancy 'car polishers'! Useless....;-)

Anyway, hope this help!

oh yeah, elbow is required for best results lol.

vinegar mixed with some water is great for glass too btw!!, just dont use inside unless you like the smell lol

I take mine to a car cleaning place where you sit in the car while young men work hard to make it clean ;-)

Remove the upholstery completely, blood shows up for years. If you are near Mossside pay some kids to do a flight and lit.
