We're looking at getting one of these for our little one as we have a 500 mile round trip coming up so need something to keep him occupied
A few questions for anyone who has them, are they hard wired for power or do they power from the cigarette lighter? Any particular brands to look out for or avoid?

If your talking about the ones that hang on the headrest, they will run from the lighter socket. The ones that you mount into the headrest will be hard wired (so much nicer but quite a bit of work involved).

When I wanted these I actually eneded up getting a roof mounted screen from ebay for £25 new, which I thought was quite a bargain. My Car sterao alreay had a video out option so all in all a great solution for the price, but a bit of hassle mounting it.

Several options available, but the best is probably going to cost more and involve quite a bit more to install. I just couldn't cope will all the wires of the ones hanging from a headrest.

On the plus side it certainly kept the kids quiet on long journeys :)

what you doing 10 laps of the island :p
They are usually powered from the lighter unless you hardwire them yourself

Cheers, I think I'm going to go for one of the LCD screen type ones that hang from the headrest, I don't really want to be messing with wiring
