hi i was just driving home and i heard a snapping kind of sound which i think was something to do with the clutch as after that the clutch felt funny when pressing it down and bringing it back up, luckily i was still able to drive home. i will have to take the car to the garage on monday to get it checked but does anyone know what it might be and is it expensive to fix. the car is a 58 plate corsa.

Have you got warranty on it?

U should ask your main dealer just in case..

either clutch cable, or the ratchet adjuster or clutch itself

warranty should cover it either way

if not, 100 for the cable fitted, about 80 for the adjuster
300-500 or so for the clutch (wide range as it might be a dual mass flywheel fault)

Usually you won't be able to press the clutch down if the cable has gone.

i dont think its under warranty as we didnt get it serviced last year as we had alot on around the time and just never got round to it, bit stupid i know.

Could be the clutch cable automatic adjuster,Sometimes they slip a notch on the ratchet mechanism but as its still working shouldnt be anything major.Just take it to someone you trust so you dont get ripped off,

Yes it will be under warranty, the items affected wouldn't have been checked at first service anyway. It will list in your service book what is done at that service.

Well as its only possible for the car to be 20 months old you would have only have had it serviced once unless you have done mega mileage. They don't check any of the items that are affected so they would have been no the wiser anyway.

if we took it to vauxhall would they not ask to see that it has been serviced? my partner seems to think that it wont be under warranty as we didnt do the service. i think theres only 5000 miles been done.

No just book it in. You will be fine. If its only done 5000 miles anyway nothing should be worn at all. It must be a manufacturing fault. If you look in the service book it will tell you what would have been done on the yearly service(if you had had it done) and on a modern car is is barely more than an oil and filter change.

Besides the dealer wont care as Vauxhall will pay them for any work done anyway.:)
