would imagine youd have to gotto police with witnesses details

Get in touch with your insurance company; you can also ask them exactly what to do. It might be that they just do it all.

i dont have the witness details, and if i go to the police the person who hit the car can deny hitting my car,

if i get a address i can go down myself and sort it outbut i doubt the police will give me the details

do you have any friends in the police? if you do ask them to get the full details and give it to you, post the reg number on here

if you dont have a witness you dont have case against who done it you could still claim on your insurance if fully comp

dont think someone one in the police would risk losing there job by doing this and if they were a freind you should be asking them to do it as they would lose job if caught

Listen to Chesso, contact your insurance company.

You can find out if it's on the insurance database Here

Not 100% accurate, However using it could possibly be illegal if it's not your car.

Did the car park have CCTV ? Without proof or witness details there's not really much hope I'm afraid :(
#12
all you need to do is contact the poilce and get a collision report. Then contact your insurers, make a claim and give them the police case number.
Let your insurers deal with it.

If you're going to the police you need to take all your documents - ie MOT, V5, insurance, both parts of your driving license

How bad is the damage tho ? You may find that losing your no claim bonus is far worse than simply taking the hit (!) and paying for it yourself .....the insurance company can get the owner's details no prb but all they'll do is send them a letter .. if the TP doesn't respond they wont waste time pursuing it as it would simply be one person's word against another's and so not worth their while to pursue any further.

Put them on ratethatdriver.co.uk

best advise is call insurance company with details you have. police can only act if it occured in a public place. In the case of a car park, it is most likely to be seen as private property. You can pay to get someones address details from their reg, but the insurance company would also do this. only real decision is what you want to achieve. if the damage is inor (like mine was) you could just get it fixed. If you want the other person to loose their no claims and have the hastle of potentially paying excess, PROVIDING you can establish they caused the damage (maybe car park/traffic cctv cameras) them contact your insurance company and they will do the rest :)

Sorry, forgot to mention that a lady hit my car whilst i was standing right in front of her at the local amenity tip. two workers saw it happen and we had cctv from the site. Police told me all the above as the place had opening hours (ie: was closed off for some of the day) it was a private matter. The said even places like 24 hour tesco car parks were more private matters than ones police could get involved in, saying that in such cases, they would often pop over to the registered drivers address and suggest they dealt with the other party directly. In either case, if your fully comp, let the insurance company do the leg work and just give them all the info you have. Good luck whichever you choose. It's a pain in the ****, I know from my own experience. I chose to pay the £54 repair myself than have the hassle.

Also - just informing your insurance company may affect your no claim bonus or may at least lead to them loading your premium next year even if you don't subsequently make a claim against your own policy.... sooo wrong but unfortunately true :(
