Hey,

Never been to Manchester before, but we're off up there for the celebrations. Will be heading towards Exchange Square.

Where is the best place to park? Anyone have any street names or postcodes for where to leave my precious car?

there are about 3/4 carparks within 2 min walk.
Try the shudehill car park which is on riga street and the arndale car park is just opposite. On deansgate you can try the car park opposite harvey nics or the one next to the renassaince hotel on blackfriars st. HTH

Are these multi storey? Or single level? Will they be free, or do I need to take change with me?

Hi i'm not a driver but i was going to say Shudehill too or Victoria station which is next to Exchange Sq. Do you mean Albert Sq by the way as there is a big fireworks display tonight? The no for NCP is 0870 606 7050

I thought it was Exchange Square, but it could be Albert Square. We're heading for the fireworks, and I thought the Wheel was in Exchange Square and they're the people who are paying for them.

They are multi storey, and do charge. If you want free parking you can park outside the city centre and walk but I wouldnt advise to do this unless you know manchester well as they are some dodgy areas just outside town centre.

Don't know Manchester at all! No problem with paying, just need to make sure I have some change on me. All places have dodgy bits - it's a shame.

he he. Have some rep for your troubles anyway. Hopefully we'll find a space somewhere. Should think most people will be drinking and using public transport anyway so they shouldn't be packed.

.

It wont necessarily be change you need, last time I parked in Manchester the charges were huge, something like £4 an hour, :)

I always park just outside and walk in, but if some of your group is intending on drinking/wearing "unsuitable footwear" then you have plenty of (expensive) choices in the centre. Street parking will be free later on too, of course, but I would suggest that it would not be the safest place to live your car this evening.

There is only me and my gurl. Not intending on pubs/clubs, just a meal and then fireworks. Don't know Manchester at all though, so despite the charges parking closer might be best.

Although - how hard can it be to find a big wheel? lol.
