I was wondering if any of you great HUKD'ers out there could help me.

My dad's clutch has gone and I was wondering how much it would cost for it to be fixed.

Its for a 2003 Citroen Picasso.

And how long would it take?

Cos we are going on holiday on Saturday (5th)

It wont go into Reverse

U sure it aint the gears?

The guy at the garage my dad phoned reckoned it was the clutch. Thats why I asked you all! :)

Don't think Clutch is too expensive DEPENDING on exactly whats wrong with it

gears would be pricey
#10
Its the clutch change.
#11
can't see how it can be the clutch? Sounds more like a gearbox problem to me
#12
Hope its the clutch!
#13
Does it still drive?
Is it only reverse it wont go in?

Yeh it still drives.
#15
My dad (the mechanic!) reckons it sounds like a problem with the gearbox then, not the clutch. Does it go in reverse with the engine off??
#16
Clutch = a fair bit. (over £100 but shouldnt be more then £200 - But some garages to try to rip you off)
Clutch Cable = not too much. (£60-£70)

Dont know. Sorry. If it does what is it?
#18
Even if it is the clutch thats only part of the solution, the labour cost (as always)will make it expensive

You will be best shopping around and the best price is usually at indpendant garages
#19
But I think its still under warranty!
#20
The clutch could possibly be dragging, or a gearbox fault.
If the garage has only given your dad advice over the phone, it really needs looking at, even then they might have to take it appart to find the fault!
Sorry!

If it is still under warranty, get it back to them and push for a courtesy car!!! ;-)

Would they give us one for 2 weeks?
#23
I'd be very surprised if whatever garage they send it to would have it done within 2 weeks!! Explain the situation to them, blame them!! Hey, if you don't ask....! :-D
#24
We need it for saturday!

You had better get on to them quick then!!! :)
#26
Do you think they could get it done for then?

It is probably not going to happen that the dealership would have your car repaired by Saturday, but they should sort you out with somthing since you are going away!
I think your best bet is to get on the phone to them.... pronto!!
#28
My dad will phone them at lunch (1ish)

Hope it can be sorted!!
#29
Me too! Keep us posted!! :)
#30
Will Do!

#36
You are more than welcome!! :)
I wish I was going on holiday this year, ANYWHERE would do!!!
Yes, let me know what it was.... I want to see how good my dad is!!!
#37
lol, the mechanic at Arnold Clark (where we bought the car) said that it could just be the linkage?

May I ask how old are you?

Not sure tho.
#38
Damn, dad mentioned the linkage but I didn't know what to put!!!! He couldn't think if your picasso had it on! Oh well, at least you are getting it sorted!!!
Did you just ask me how old I am??
I may tell you, but I'd have too kill you!!
Im too old to be living with my dad, put it that way!!!! :p
#39
Ah well, at least its getting done!

Might as well sponge for slightly longer (especially in todays world :p)

Anyway, thanks again!
