Car problem again that ruddy c5 worth a complaint to the garage?

The c5 went into yet another garage who assured my dad they would cure it,when it went in it was only driving for 4 miles before conking out.

RAC trailed it to the garage which was 18 miles away as local garages had tried and failed to repair it and left dad with the bills.

The garage rang to say the car was ready for collection, dad asked if they could possibly drive it back to him if he then drove the driver back, this was to make sure the car would drive the 18 miles! the garage said no so i took dad up to this garage to collect the car.

The receptionist was boasting to other customers waiting that they were the only garage that could fix this troublesome car etc etc

Dad coughed up the £381 bill and I followed behind him, after a few miles i noticed an awful smell and kept wondering if it was my car,the smell got worse and worse, after 12 miles dad pulled over and opened the bonnet and petrol was tissing out everywhere!
Rung the garage and asked they send a truck or mechanic to sort it,they said they didnt have either available and we would have to send for the rac which we did.

The rac guy turned up and found that the garage hadnt secured some sensors and a pipe properly hence the fuel leaking out,he managed to sort it on the roadside.

Now on dads bill is a charge for an "extensive 15 mile road test"
I seriously dont think they dont this and neither does the rac guy who has written dad a report stating that.

Is it worth pursuing? the bill was paid with a barclaycard

Is the car still under warranty?
Id take it up with Citroen Head office to be honest.
Sounds like they need to send it somewhere where they can actually fix the car instead of bodging it!

Dear me it deffinately sounds like this car was made on a friday afternoon by all the problems your dad has been having. if it is under warrenty i would keep on at citreon until they fix it. you shouldn't be expected to keep forking out for problems like this.

That's surely some form of neglect on the garage's part, Leaking fuel is clearly a massive fire hazard and could of endangered your dad's and other road users lives.

When they mess about with fuel lines etc they should take extra care to make sure all seals are secure and fitted correctly.

I assume the garage didn't test your dad's car very well when they claimed they had fixed it? Perhaps they started it up and drove it around the block with out lifting the bonnet to check and make sure it was all sound.

I know the garage I use always road test the car to make sure it's ok, I've seen them do it as well, If the garage had tested it correctly then I'm sure they'd have known that their was a fuel leak, They should of revved the ******** off it to make sure their was no fuel leaks, If they'd done that I'm sure that the pressure from revving would of found any leaks.

I hope your dad gets it sorted ok next time.

I'm not sure if it's worth pursuing has so many backstreet garages seem to get away with things like this, I'd have a talk to trading standards and see what they suggest but at the end of the day your dad shouldn't have to pay for the neglect by the garage.

Perhaps your dad should start by writing a letter of complaint to the garage.

That's terrible customer service from Citreon then, If they knew their was a faulty batch then they should of recalled them.

I remember watching Watchdog and they were on about dodgy bonnet latches on Renault Clio's, Renault refused to repair most when people complained, They didn't recall them either and I think it's still an ongoing issue, The French don't really care about customer care. Should of bought a Ford Cheap reliability
