Car Warranty? Hole in Petrol Tank...

I have a small screw head size hole in my Petrol tank on the left hand side towards the bottom of the car.

I'm not sure how it happened as seemed to be ok previously. The car is a 10 reg and purchased new from the dealer. I have AA cover with my bank account and the car is warranty, I've not had many issues before (with the exception of the side panel neing scratched :( ) how do I go about getting this fixed, would have hoped warranty would cover it?

Its a breath hole to stop pressure building when the pump engages.

if its a puncture then no but if a flaw in the tank manufacture then yes. Get an independent to check it

Probably a drill hole where someone was draining your tank

possibly more then likely this, as prices for fuel are going through the roof, you will see more of this happening, try your insurance company to see if your covered.

Probably a drill hole where someone was draining your tank....Ring the dealer and say your tank leaks, let them look at it on ramp to see what caused it and take it from there

Hadn't thought of that - Could be a reason, scumbags!! I get Ford Assistance for a year so this seems like a sensible option.

That makes sense although you would have thought that the tank would be designed to withstand small pebbles from the road etc... It's only 7 months old with about 2k miles on the clock!

What motor, sounds like a french car?

you got a picture??
#9
Yes it leaks lots of Petrol! And it's a Ford Fiesta - Unable to take a picture at the moment as its too dark - But pretty much a small scre size hole on the lower left side of the plastic petrol tank from what I can see.

Get it to the dealer right away. If they try and fob you off, call Consumer Direct. Typical Ford build quality unfortunately.

Thanks. I'll call them in the morning, think I will need to use Ford Assistance to even get it there as it runs out of petrol pretty quick and dont think it will make the 20 miles to the dealers without some resin!

Ok so Ford Assistance seems to be a good option where they provide assistance at home or roadside. The questions are whether I call them tonight or after work tomorrow? Also do I speak to the Dealer first?
#13
I'd speak to the dealer and tell them to come and pick up the car, because in your opinion it is not safe to drive. Tell them you have received this advice from the Police.
