My washing machine stopped spinning and i've traced the fault back to the carbon brushes in the motor being worn. I've found some online (link in post #1) but where could i buy these in the high street? the wife can't be doing without the washing machine for more than a few days! ive looked in B&Q, homebase kind of places but nowt about...

dont know of any "big stores" that do applianxe spares, i used to use a local repair store for parts(use ebay more now)
You might be better posting a rough location as someone local might know, failing that the yellow pages

I've used E-Spares, I couldn't find a supplier on the high street. E-Spares were very good though and I received the brushes within a few days.

You might try a good old fashioned white goods supplier, try Yellow Pages for names. However it would be very unlikely that they would hold a stock, they would probably just order them in.

An electrical supplier might have standard size brushes that can be made to fit in the existing holder, I'm guessing at 6mm square about 25mm long.

I'd recommend using E-Spares though.

Thanks for all the comments misc'ers, guess i'll just go the eBay route then (less than half the price of the E-Spares one's)
