Just tried to use my card online nd it declined.Rang the bank as when i have a flutter they sometimes put a fraud stop on it.

I was told that there is no stop on the card just that i have used it too many times today and cannot SPEND MY OWN MONEY until after midnight tonight.

I have never heard of this before and have used my card a lot today but isnt that upto me??

And hi misc'ers its been a while! x

What type of card is it? :|

Better this than someone else using it and spending thousands before anyone notices surely?

My rents have this problem when we buy a phone or move around the country all the time - it's horrible because the customer services for MasterCard are useless!

probably just unusual spending patterns, if you only use the card a few times in the week and then go mad one day you can see why the bank might think hmmm looks likes its stolen and someones trying to abuse the account

20 times in one day?! Bloody hell! I think they are doing you a favour! :D

Surely it's your own money and you can do what the hell you like with it? oO

I have heard of them stopping it because they think it could be fraud, but never this!

How many times have I told you to lay of the damned UGG boots? Ha!?

I've had this before, have to ask for a reset if you go over 10 lol!

Annoying when they block it cos they think it's fraud, had to phone them in Wickes the other day cos they thought it was fishy that someone was using my card both online and offline in the same day!

I dont usually use it 20 times a day lol.Its just that the sun was shining today i had a day off from the office and went clothes shopping then Chester Zoo and for a meal etc so it would seem normal to use it that amount of times on a full day out???

I had mine blocked after spending £4.00 at Belfast Airport then a further £30 at Heathrow on the same day in the space of a few hours

"I don't usually use it 20 times a day" being the point they would make I would imagine.

I still can't see how anyone can use a card that many times though, day out or not! :D

had this recently with natwest, however, they called my phone and an automated system made me verify all my recent transactions

Just counted and i made 17 transactions, and spent around £450.I understand this clearly isnt my average daily spend but IT IS MY MONEY !!

When I bought my iPad they went crazy and stopped all transactions lol

Think of it like this - if you had lost the card but hadn't realised you'd lost it until later in the day I'm sure you would then appreciate that there had been a security stop on it!!!

mastercard possibly mbna send me text messages. if you did this transaction of x amount at x shop then reply yes etc

saves hassle

plus i can view my pin online too

I know Barclays have a set daily limit, I had to go into the bank for them to make a note against my account to raise my daily limit.

It's quite easy to do 15-20 transactions in one day. It's worse with online especially when some companies rather than process an order as one payment will break it down and try and get authorisation every time they post something (HMV I'm looking at you).

and you don't think a phone call confirming that you still had the card and the transactions were genuine should be enough to be able to use it again?

What if you had gone out for the day shopping, maybe 100 miles away to London or somewhere with the kids, and needed to put petrol in to get home, and couldn't until after midnight? That ok?

If my bank did this my account would be closed the next day and moved somewhere else.

Why are people saying "my bank" etc etc. As far as I'm aware banks only act as a credit card introducer and the card runs separate to any bank accounts you may have through a seperate arm like mortgages. Hence why you can have a barclaycard and not bank with barclays.

Chester Zoo is a massive [Fraud warning] Maybe they thought you were dressing the monkeys. Common sense doesn't rarely come into these companies minds. "Damn someones scamming again" "What the hell is the Zoo Bandits". "They spend all day gathering clothes and finish it off with Zoo's." "Sick *******"
