Spending the weekend in Cardiff. Ohalfs going to the rugby which leaves us two ladies to occupy ourselves (age 45+). Staying very close to the stadium.

Looking for really nice restraunt (not a chain, if possible). Friend is a bit of a foodie snob and I would like some suggestions so that I don't end up spending a fortune for one tiny meal. Needs to be within walking distance of hotel, no car.

Maderia - Portuguese (meat lovers). £15 main courses.

Jamie Olivers - Italian. £10-£20.

Both ini walking distance, both can get very busy - particularly on weekends.
Cosmo £6.50 lunch time except saturdays and sunday its £12.95 i believe.
Anyway its a pan -asian all you can eat buffet restaurant but looks high -end and food is lush.
2 doors from Tesco in Cardiff bay just has a door at street level with a man to open it for you. Then either a beautiful staircase or you can take the lift up to the restaurant.

I love it as you can eat at your own pace, but that unlike low end eat as much as you like that have drink stations.
Here you just raise your hand for one of the staff thats always around to help. They even have sausage and chips and chicken nuggets on the starter bit so if you got kids or fussy eaters theres something for them.
Take your pick: depending on what style of food you want.
I'd recommend the Taurus steak house, they cooked my steak to perfection, unlike the flaming Danubius hotel, that told me they could only cook steak well done or medium, and it was illegal to serve me blue steak.:x

Shame really as I was going to recommend them as an approved supplier to the NHS, that steak has cost them 80K in revenue.
Many thanks guys for the links.............?not many people on here from Cardiff
Demiros is nice down cardiff bay. You get the number 6 bus which is every 10 minutes. Woods brasserie is lovely too but a bit pricey! Pearl of the Orient is a lovely chinese, again down the bay and their set menu for 2 is really nice.

In town, I know it is a chain but Bella Italia is nice. Some nice resturants in the Brewers's Quarters too.

Have a lovely time :-D
Pop down to Swansea!! Better :)
Thanks guys.
Our plan for fine dining disappeared because our student offspring obviously realised that a free meal was better than their original plans. Wood's brassiere's looked ideal for us ladies but offspring not keen. Ended up at the Indian next door called Spice...opposite the main car park.

Sadly this establishment must have thought we had mugs written all over us. We walked in at 6.45pm for the inclusive £14.95 x3 course deal 5-7pm (we had 4 students with us!). After they sat us down, they ignored us for 15 mins then said it was too late for the offer. Changed their minds after a quiet word. Then decided to add a service charge to the bill (not stated on the menu). They took it off after we pointed this out.

Had a lovely weekend and loved Cardiff. Everyone so helpful and friendly.
