I was scammed on here a few years ago, I cant really say anything constructive as it looks like you have done all you can, but get in touch with a mod, they may help you.
Hope you get it sorted

Why would you buy blind from someone that hasnt posted on here through the right channels. Harsh i know but lessons to be learnt here, and i hope it wasn't much cash. Did you pay through friends & family or paying for goods option?

Why would you even do that? I presume it was a new member with no feedback?

Call them on the landline that you obtained prior to paying them?

We all know the answer to that X) Even if he had got a number, I'm pretty sure it would be pointless.

Selling on this site is not safe. All HUKDs can do is ban the con artist & provide info for you to commence legal action.

so you ignored every rule in the book and expect paypal to refund you? Good luck with that oO

Looks like another person makes a deal via pm, probably with a zero rated seller, and then wonders why they got scammed! oO

Sorry to hear that's happened but there is a whole section on how to trade safely (safest) on here.

hi i will definitely try not to be i am just a novice to all this thats all, i did not make any deal the seller contacted me, uploaded relevant pictures etc i was just looking for advice and any other peoples personal experiences

The advice I am afraid is to only buy through sellers that are on established sites such as Amazon where they have a returns process or fleabay where at least PayPal generally will help. For new sellers they hold back paying them until you confirm the goods have arrived. I suspect that just paying via PayPal to someone you met in the equivalent of the pub will not protect you. After all it isn't PayPal's fault and they may not be able to get the money back from the so called seller. You may have more luck with your credit card company but they may place a limit on the value of the claim (either upper or lower - or both) so you may also be out of luck. You can just hope they do send the goods, but from your post that is unlikely. As to the police, well I doubt they would be interested to be honest unless this was part of a large scam.

If you paid pp goods then you will have back up from pp, if it was gift I'm afraid there won't be much you can do.

To be fair, everybody is a zero-rated seller at the moment (depending where you look):

It's your own fault for not following the site guidelines and protecting yourself.

It's pretty safe to buy from established members on here, who have good feedback, provided you follow the proper procedure.
