All,

Recently bought a new flat, the previous owners had white/light cream carpets fitted in the hallway and living room and I have a 16 month old daughter, the 2 dont mix!! The carpet is a good quality carpet and looks good (when clean) so I dont really want to rip them up, and my partner is fond of our daughter so I cant get rid of her!

Problem is the carpet obviously gets grubby and I am constantly cleaning it, its a pain in the backside. I have had it steam cleaned but really only want to do this twice a year so not to damage the carpet.

Can anyone suggest cheap carpet cleaners that wont damage the carpet, or is there anyone who has had a similar problem.

Rep to be dished out

Have you considered rugs? These can cover the high-traffic areas until your daughter is older.

Another option is to cover the carpet with some form of protection then lay a cheap carpet over the top. In a few years left the cheap carpet & protective layer, give the carpet a quick vacuum & hey presto!

I would be seriously tempted to talk to a carpet shop & see what they suggest (actually, talk to a couple, to get a better idea as to what's available).

i would have thought so, companies offer to scotch guard new sofas and such, so it must be safe surely?

We hired the rug doctor machine from our local focus do it all store and it was brilliant.

Our carpets are only coming upto 3 years old, we have no pets, shoes off most of the time but the colour of the water was frightening !!!!

get the kids to keep it clean , they used to clean stuff and work down the pit at an early age

:whistling:

cant help mate in the same boat .....get darker carpets , cheap ones till they are older , otherwise your threads will continue

i.e biro on the carpet , paint spilled, kids walked dog muck in ... mud ,
