Cars - why they hate us.

What a weekend i've had..

Saturday morning myself and my mates get up early, all ready for a day out playing Airsoft.. (No, we don't go in camo. We don't take it that seriously)...

Mate puts down the passenger window so i can see left, then it refuses to come back up..

Due to the fact i know nothing about cars, we pop to Kwikfit and wait for them to open.. Can't sort it.. Move onto another garage..

They also can't fix it, although took a look and managed to temporarily wedge the window up. Say i've got to goto an electrician, they reccomend one.. (Only open Monday - Friday).

On Sunday night i look online, trying to find out what this kind of issue could cost me.. Find many people paying anywhere from £200-£350 to get it sorted, if the motor had gone.

Today, i receive the first bit of good news. Electrician said it'll be £60-£80 at most, as the motor is fine. (Wiring or switch issue).. Also said if i took it down to Renault themselves, i'd of been looking at a hell of allot more.

I love my Renault Espace (despite it being french).. But why oh why do these things happen at the worst possible time.. When you actually need to get somewhere promptly..

Lost interesting in reading this once i got to the bit where the window failed so we went to kwikfit oO

I stick the key in it, push down on the peddle and it gets me where i need to go.. This is about the extent of my car knowledge.

So you've never seen the tv ad where it says we fit exhaust/tyres at kwikfit or hear people on here comment how useless kwikfit are, theres a clue in the name as well "kwikfit" they quickly! fit things, they aren't kwikrepair

Always been good for me mate

I rememeber once i wanted my car checked before a long journey to the south of france, didn't want a service but just once over.. Took it down to my local kwikfit.. Did all the checks in exchange for me getting them a pack of biscuits and some milk.

They've also repaired any issues i've had with my car before, I guess it's luck of the draw.

Don't worry - I got enough out of your reply anyway.

PS: Loved your little edit. You must have thought "hmm... post not funny enough on its own... how about a tired old Samaritans jokes as well? Yeah that'll do it".

In terms of suicidal thoughts btw, its not me playing Airsoft, detailing my boring weekend on a shopping forum and driving around in an Espace :)

I had same problem only with the drivers side window on my megane. Mechanic swapped the switches to let me use the drivers window and now both windows work. lol. Wish that was my only problem.......I got major timing belt engine problem. Gonna cost around £600 to fix:(

French cars, electronics are likely the last thing they do while sipping whine and eating Brie. I love my pug but I know it could die for no reason at all but for being French.

I felt it appropriate to at least direct you somewhere where you could get what you needed, it is close to Christmas afterall.

Always tend to be the case doesnt it, walk in with a small issue and come out with a whooping great big bill. I just hope nothing else goes wrong betwee now and the end of December :/

Had a VW Passat previously.. Kind of wish i'd stuck with VW, it's just that the Renault Espace is the nicest looking people carrier in my opinion.. Don't think i'd buy Renault again though.

Why did I know it was a Renault before I read it through?
