After sifting through the usual nigerian scammers and timewasters I've finally managed to find a buyer for my 360 via gumtree and we are now at the stage of arranging a time for collection.

As well as reading all the tips etc on gumtree about staying safe etc then I was wondering if anyone had advice or experiences on how to avoid being scammed or battered when the handover takes place.

Being a bit of cash on collection virgin I'd be grateful for any advice.

Always take somebody with you, maybe a few people, always try getting all details of the buyer or seller :)

Have company with you

Get it signed for twice by them sold as seen - copy for you - copy for them

And only take cash

Cheers guys, yeah I'll be taking my bouncer bro along with me. it's in glasgow so just suggested to meet at george square or somewhere more public as like holly100 I don't particulary want people coming to the house.

Also, check the cash is real, heard of someone on here getting paid in fake notes and not realising until too late

think thats the biggest worry I have, watching the real hustle has got me mega paranoid and I'm worried I'll end up naked in a field with no house, cash, car or 360 and I won't even realise it until some fat guy and fit bird turn up with a camera crew.

Tell him that you want to meet at your bank and pay it in in front of him.

I do this when receiving thousands, but the principle is the same.

Take a UV light to check the money.

I was going to take one of the marker pens.

I already replied that i'd meet him somewhere public like george square or central station but I really like the bank idea, its only 2 mins walk from there and may put him off if he's attempting to pay with monopoly cash.

Cheers for all the advice guys I'll keep you updated at what goes down. lol:thumbsup:

Putting the money in the cash machine doesn't mean anything, though as you will just be sticking the cash in an envelope

Well not heard anything since suggesting we meet in a a public place just over a day ago. Beginning to look as if I may have dodged the proverbial bullet lol.

It now looks as if I'll be returning to ebay with my tail firmly between my legs.
