After being the victim of having money stolen from my bag/purse regularly I have decided to get some sort of marking and catch whoever is pinching.
Not knowing anything about this at all I have looked at a few websites but they are all in the states and the shipping costs are huge.
I am looking for some uv powder or such like that I can pop discreetly in my purse that will transfer to the cretins skin and hopefully put an end to my vanishing money problems.
Has anyone any ideas ? or know of a uk company that sells this sort of stuff?

mardy when i was in college/school and previous jobs the cops actively promoted this and you could get the pens from them or at least they can point ya in the right direction! nip down ya local and have a word

hope that helps
#2
tried that but they told me uv pens wont transfer to skin contact hence it needs to be powder but i cant find where to buy it?
#3
superglue?

once got my money back (in a completely different circumstance) by writing my name on the note- brilliant and almost unnoticeable tactic
#4
lol yeah think that might get noticed!
#5
and stick your purse shut lol
#6
Where is this happening, at home or work?
#7
Hide your real purse somewhere else and put some **** into the one the thief thinks the money is in at least that way you can track them down by smell :)

I've just bought some stuff from theglowcompany.co.uk and they delivered quickly. Another, similar outlet is www.uvgear.co.uk but you will find several if you Google UV and security. Be careful with UV as it's bad for your eyes.
#9
hahahaha

its at my home but up to now i canot catch em at it :(
#10
Can you not get some sort of alarm wired up to your bag?
Ir it's at your home you could buy a cheap security camera and tape the person stealing the money then hand the tape to the police. I hope you catch them.

Dismantle a disposable camera (google disposable camera stun gun) and stick it in your bag that'll zap the little gits you will hear them scream. It bloody hurts too as i got myself while making one to house in a dummy phone as phones, bags, purses etc was getting nicked from my local a few years ago, we caught them that way! Just left it on the table on a busy night in plain sight but next to us in a tempting place!

You can use a product called smartwater (www.smartwater.co.uk) - it is a liquid that has its own "dna" unique to you when you buy it, and can be painted on pretty much anything.

When somebody steals your belongings it gets on their skin and clothes and is pretty much impossible to get rid of. They won't know that it's there as it's colourless and odourless and
only shows up under UV light

In Hampshire (not sure about the rest of the UK) every person that's arrested and taken into custody is tested for smartwater, if there is a postive result this is sent off for analysis and the company can tell exactly where that particular batch comes from, so they can trace that particular billy burglar back to you. Also most nightclub doorstaff and security are pretty clued up to look out for anyone glowing under their UV lighting!

It costs approximately £50 or so per set but that will cover all your belongings.

Have you got a webcam?
Can you set that up to 'watch' your bag?
#22
I've tried using one of those mini pin hole cameras but the picture was so grainy despite fiddling with the thing for hours on end,I gave up!
Havent got a webcam but thats a jolly good idea too,is there anyway to record what a webcam sees?

sadly its family :(

sorry to hear that, as in family that live with you or family that visit?

If it is family that live with im not sure what you will accomplish by catching them, apart from confirming what you already seem to know, if its not family that live with you then they shouldnt be in the house alone
#28
its family that live with me,this has been going on for a while now and try as i might i cannot pinpoint who it is although I do have someone in mind thats why I'm hoping the uv stuff will put an end to it for me and we can then sort it out from there
#29
Just get yourself one of these:-

im taking it it is not your child so assuming it is a brother/sister, i have to say if they know you are aware that someone is stealing from you that finding them out probably wont stop it, sometimes you have to just prevent the situation (not allow the situation/temptation) arrising.

good luck in whatever you decide
#32
as soon as i find out who it is they can ruddy well find somewhere else to live lol

I've had so much stuff taken its getting stupid, money, jewelry,pc stuff, alcohol and even xmas cards with money inside vanished into thin air
#33
Mousetrap in the purse problem solved
#34
i quite like the idea of the "stun camera" that was mentioned earlier lol
#35
Oh I have been through this with family before also and find that they will stop at nothing so my advice would be to sleep with it all in your knickers I'm afraid, or easier still get rid of them! lol
#36
This is awful, but having said that you need to get it sorted out as its unfair on you and others need to be aware this is happening to protect them if it's one person doing it.

Can't you lock up your stuff at all, get one of those mini safes?

Hope it all sorts out for you soon.
#37
I tried locking valuable stuff in my cars boot but when i went to get in the car the next day i couldnt find it as whoever had at some point during the night taken my keys and moved the car and it was in the next street!
i dont think they looked in the boot as nothing vanished that day

I have taken a load of stuff over to a friends and left it there for safe keeping til i get to the bottom of this which will hopefully be very soon!

Did you have any luck catching them?
