CD-Wow grey imports?

Hi all,
I finally received Stardust yesterday (http://www13.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=2531995&subcat=region2), which I ordered from CD-WOW what seems like an age ago with one of those £3 vouchers they were giving away. Only problem is it's clearly not the UK version (something CD-WOW have been previously wrist slapped over), but worse than that the production quality of the box, sleeve, disc etc. is so poor it almost seems like a pirated copy (I'm assuming it's not and is just a grey import...).

My question is this, where do I stand on returning this? According to their T's & C's it will cost me postage plus £1.50 for "handling, insurance and re-stocking", as there's technically nothing wrong with it. As I'm clearly not happy with the quality of the product, particularly compared to the proper UK version I don't think I should have to effectively pay them to take it back.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Region 2 doesn't mean UK version. That's the risk you take.

Region: 2 (UK & Europe/Japan)

Should have just downloaded it ;-)

tbh I don't mind the fact that it's non-UK, it's the fact that the whole package is shoddy. The box is flimsy and unlike any DVD box I've ever seen before, the disc looks like something I could've printed myself etc.

Have you got a catalogue number for it, from the disk? Just been checking and cant find any info for the version cd-wow are selling, apart from on their site... Make of that what you will.

Is there a phone No. for them ? or email & ask them to send you a pre-paid returns label as you are not happy with it. It is not as advertised so why should you have to be out of pocket........ DEMAND A FULL REFUND

I've not got it with me at the mo, will look later. Judging by the audio tracks on it I think it's an Eastern European release.

This is where I check out the different versions. Can't see that one listed though (going by the audio/subs).

By the way, regarding the quality. I've also noticed that on stuff from Play as well, poorly aligned printing leading to blurry covers. Is this the way of the future?

phone them up and they will sort it out. ive always found their customer services to be very reasonable

I emailed them to see about a refund. They did offer a refund and didn't mention re-stocking fees, although they seem to have gotten the wrong end of the stick and think I'm complaining about the product being used. I've emailed back to set them straight and stated that it is the manufacturing quality which is the issue. I also asked whether they'll refund any postage costs, so will see what they say.

Well they got back to me, they want to refund the postage in e-vouchers. Not much use to me as I wont be using them again after this.

I've politely requested no e-vouchers but a full refund, so will see what they say. I may have to involve trading standards seeing as they've been in a lot of trouble for parallel importing to the UK before.

so what exactly is a grey import is it a fake of some sort ?, so are the region 2 UK dvds they sale not pressed by proper companys then, and if not proper copys how come they not get closed down, as i bought both shrek 2 and harry potter 5 and both different to the uk shop versions.

Some info here: http://www.out-law.com/page-7891

It basically boils down to importing non UK editions of CD's and DVD's to the UK on the cheap. - Apparently it's a breach of UK copyright laws.

Well they wont budge on the e-vouchers, got a bit of an sharp email back tbh. Not sure what to do now.

Waiting for a response from Consumer Direct, hopefully they'll be able to point me in the right direction.
