A 100-strong unit of so-called "non compliance officers" is standing by to visit homes where the census is not filled in.

The enforcers are authorised to conduct interviews under caution and have been given powers to gather evidence against householders who decline to complete the national survey, said a spokesman for the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Anyone who repeatedly refuses to take part will face criminal prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.

More than one million people were missed during the last census in 2001, but only 38 were prosecuted.

*** Also if you've not recieved a Census Questionnaire then you MUST request one :

Hope they find and fine all those who refuse to fill it in. Every penny towards clearing the national debt is useful.

£1000 fine what joke, it will cost them about a hundred times that to get them to court, lol

Well it will cost them much more when I request a duty solicitor before it gets anywhere close to it coming to court.

Funding from Government to local services including NHS, police and fire is calculated partly based on the number of people counted in the Census, so if you ignore the Census you are contributing to a further shortfall of money in these critical services.

Those people who don't register a literally removing thousands of pounds from the hands of local hospitals and surgeries.

Those people who think they are fighting the system by not filling in the census are just in fact harming the communities they say they value and are fighting for.

Just my 2p's worth.

If some people put as much effort into completing the form as they did moaning about it they could've filled it in 50 times by now.

Im more worried about the security of the info bearing in mind the amount of government departments we have heard about losing stuff as there is enough on this form to apply for credit for example

It's really not hard to fill in.
not hard for you or me, but i come across plenty of families who have found it really hard for various reasons, i have been able to help these families but im sure that there are many more that have no one to help them do it.

Let's be honest though. The people who are capable of posting on here that they won't fill it in should be able to fill it in. But they won't. Cos they iz bad ass, fight the system, I iz no sheep, types.

Maybe their is a reason some people don't want to fill it in?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMhh9eYgfIE

"All data is property of the ONS and only UK/EU owned companies will have any access to personal census data"

Not sure i like that myself to be honest.

Also, if they genuinely can't fill it in then they wont mind a compliance officer helping them do it. Unless they iz just being a bad ass mofo, fighting the system. Who just happen to want information to plan public services. You know, the services that are getting less and less already

you probs dont give two hoots about info you give out when signing up for a comp on this site lol.

People should just fill it out, what Angof said was bang on.

If a ransom website based in China asked for the same info in order to win a xbox360 or some other crap then all the "rebels" on here would volunteer the info(and probably their CC details as well) without engaging brain

take 10 mins off looking at naked women on the internet to fill it in

if we are truly "free" in this country, surely if we dont want to put all our personal information on a document, we have the right to say no?

edit: sorry for a second i thought we was living in a free country, now fill your forms and pay your taxes :)

Really??? Why was it so difficult for them as its questions about them with basic multiple choice answers. I have completed my parents census online and another elderly lady but that was purely because I knew the answers and knew it was far quicker for me to do it online than them to do it manually then get it posted off

I never got one and there is a almost non existant chance they will get into my property anyway since theres no buzzer at the front of the block of flats and the door is always locked and the people that live here wont let anyone in apart fro their friends..

I would of filled it in had one arrived.

If they're too stupid to fill out a short simple form then they're too stupid to raise children.

Maybe we should introduce controlled breeding?

In your case, retrospectively?

not hard to fill in, just a pain in the ar$e.
repeating the same questions over and over, would have saved more time if they just had a "same as person 1" button for 90% of the questions.

I'm in Scotland lol, out of the 4 flats in the building only 1 person got 1 address to "occupier"

I rent a flat so not sure how that would work about the landlord filling it in.
