I am thinking about going to Center Parcs in September but can't decide between Sherwood and Longleat. I have not been to either of them so was wondering which one was the "best", I know they are built around the same design but apparently they can differ greatly on accommodation and what is on offer. The reviews are really mixed for both sites.

I have been to CP before but only Elveden, which is nice but we want to try a different site this year.

Any recommendations?

Also, if anyone knows of any discount codes please let me know. I have just seen that CP have just upped the price of the accommodation we wanted by £50! We don't plan to book until a couple of weeks beforehand so hopefully it will go back down again!

Thanks

I want to go to 1 them eventually, they are expensive though and as you gotta book your activities in advance,it makes it awkward for some if weather not to liking.

I prefer Sherwood forest mainly for the layout of the site, Longleat is more spread out and just about everything seems to be straight up and down which is hard work cycling.

+1 Sherwood Forest is great, amazing location, but its soooo far from anywhere its a major trek getting some shopping in (intentional location choice Center Parcs, cheers) so you do end up buying from the shops on site and they are about 20-30% more expensive, but i suppose it may be the same anywhere

Urm when you go to center parcs you arent meant to leave site until you go home. The idea is you buy from the shops on site. You are supposed to park the car and go back to basics.

Sherwood is the best although they are great.

I've been to Longleat a couple of times. It's great, but make sure you look at the map first & request a villa on the same side of the lake at the swimming pool complex. It's all down hill to the lake, from both sides, so if you get a villa on the other side of the lake you have to cycle/walk downhill to the lake then uphill to the swimming pool (and it IS uphill!). MUCH easier if you're on the same level as the swimming pool:thumbsup:

When we went the website blurb said that we had to pay extra if we wanted to book a specific villa, but when we phoned them we said "can we have one in the xxx range of numbers" & there was no extra charge.

Thanks for all the replies.

Does anyone know what the Leisure Bowl is at Sherwood? Is it the same of Elveden, the bit with the bowling and bar? I have just seen that at Sherwood the Leisure Bowl is closed for refurbishment from 1 September through to December but all activities are available at the Jardin De Sports.

I love Longleat myself as we are fitness freaks and it's good having the walks with the kids, it is spread out.
The parc market there is big and is actually very good value, we go every 6 months, last visit was May, it's really nice:thumbsup:

love cycling there!

We have been to sherwood loads and are going to longleat for the first time at the end of september, cant wait!

Sherwood now has a bowling area in the sports place, but the old one was still there as well. New one in sports place is better anyway and is quite out of the way even though its in the sports place
