They don't pay out as they promise they hang up after half an hour wait on the phone and even if you are lucky to speak to somebody they pretend the line goes dead!! PATHETIC

They even lie about not receiving stuff they sign for.

Never again they owe me around £250 and my OH £150

Maybe you were unlucky. :?

Cex online is perfectly fine, Online sex is something to avoid.

I 'accidentally' clicked on a link soon after my girlfriend left me, I get so much spam now, I need to change my e-mail address. :x

It shouldn't be a lottery.

I sent my items next day they received them and signed for them now they act like they never seen the items.

Great customer services I must say, especially love the phoneline dead trick but least I got that far the others cut me off earlier than that

Had any online orders worth over £250?
#8
Also had no problems with them :) Only smaller items sold though, no biggies.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with them Col, but if people disagree with you that they should be avoided they should be allowed to say so without the 'angry' responses from you.

I had concerns when the online status hasn't moved in over a week but trying to contact them has just increased my concerns, very unprofessional is what I have experienced.

Glad they were ok for you though they obviously do pay out to some people which is good :-D

col: go to the website and have a look on their forums, there is a section where people can ask questions etc, someone on there was asking about their order the other day, within a few posts someone from cex had sorted it out for them, might be worth a try mate :)

That's how I was reading them, you seemed sarcastic and frustrated. Apologies if I read your tone wrong, that's the trouble with the Internet huh?

I am frustrated :)

Only at cex though and didn't intend to direct this at any members on here if that is how it came across.

Now posted on their forums hoping for some assistance. Seems like Im not the only one having these problems looking on there :w00t:

I have had 2 big problems with them. The first time I sent 8 of the same item (at the time the max was 9, any more and they can reduce the amount). However, I ticked the box to say contact me if probems. But what did they do..take it upon themselves to knock 25% off the value and pay me less. I had big arguments but got it back.
Then 9 WEEKS ago I sent a 19" TFT to them. 6 weeks later..nothing. I emailed them..and a manager replied. 1 week later, nothing. Emailed again. 1 week later, nothing. So I phoned. After a while they told me they have the monitor, but somebody in their office is using it? :S Promised to phone me back and pay it..that was Friday.

They are the most inept company I know. Seriously understaffed, and with a very poor business model that is bound to fail IMO

They don't need the sim card, just need to know what network the phone is on. I traded one in a couple of weeks ago.

Rumour is they are going under.

Explain the "we don't have any cash" :whistling:

I doubt they are going under, they just only have so much cash to dole out per day, obviously a lot of people will buy things on card these days and if someone has been in store before you sell a Wii/ PS3/ X360 then they are going to be running low on cash, you just have to take the rough with the smooth.

Openning new stores all the time, they obviously need the stok, they are just run quite badly from my observations.

They wont go under, they are a franchise so it should all depend on the stores, i wouldnt be suprised if they closed down the online bit though

Hear 'em use that line in every branch I've been in (5 different ones) for pretty much as many years as they've been around so don't see at a sign of anything much other than them wanting you to spend your credit on their generally over-priced stock (this over-pricing is the reason people trade their stuff there as the PX value can be pretty good).

I tend to take no more than 20 to 50 quids worth (cash value) @ any one time & have usually been able to get the cash while others have walked out or taken credit. Used the online 'sell-to' option (to avoid the need to 'persuade' them to find cash) & found that cheque payments take forever & a day compared to the issuing of credit notes....it really is like parting with cash hurts every last individual working there!!?!?
#24
have to agree with that closing comment. Had similar experiences with gamestation over last couple of days- 50% more on cash trades but we won't give cash out between 9 and 4.59pm. Get in before 5pm though and you have a chance :-D
#25
I wouldn't be suprised if they go under soon either, and here's my reasoning.
- You go to trade something in and they haven't got cash - so you accept a credit note.
- A higher percantage of their sales will therefore be completed by credit note.
- Thus ineffect very little cash is actually changing hands.
- In addition if you look at the selling price of their products, usually you can find them cheaper new in high street retailers i.e Argos Forza 2 £9.99 New - Cex, preowned £12.00

Well they had £250 cash for me on saturday afternoon :) i dont think i've ever heard them say they dont have cash in the ballymena store

Of course my views are only from my local store in Southampton, which is not a franchise btw. Maybe that's the problem and franchansiees have more incentive to ensure the system works.
#28
i think ballymena's os part of the franchise and to be fair i think its the only store that ever has cash lol

Funny you say this AllStar cos there is a thread on there forums saying sack all store staff apart from Ballymena Branch :w00t: so must be true

I ordered a gameonline from CEX,it was scratched and didnt work.On the invoice it says if there is any problems please email with 2 weeks of getting the item.I emailed them twice and got no reply. So now im stuck with a game that doesnt work
#31
got through spoke to Claire.

She said its still marked as not received but due to the backlog it probably has been received and wait until the middle of next week and it should be updated.

We'll see but I don't fancy my chances when they have already had it for 9 days already, not the best turnaround just to acknowledge receipt never mind receiving payment .

Last company I ever dealt with as bad as this was tinY and we know what happened to them :whistling:

Use online frequently as posting is cheaper than parking and petrol just to get to the shop to be told "no money"

Sold a few Wii's, games, DVD's etc and had 1 problem.

In 1 particular sale to them I traded in 2 PS2 memory cards and 2 2GB brand new and in packaging Sony Pro Duo memory sticks - aparently they weren't in the box, the DVD's and Games were. Lost out on £9, rang up and complained and was credited with £7.

Now I photograph all the items I send incase things go missing then at least I can prove I had the items in my posession, obviously there's no way of proving I put them in the package. (Which I do)

Also huge piece of advice:

Don't post anything to them recorded delivery on a friday - there's no1 in to collect at the CEX depot/shop/address on a saturday so your item goes back to the Royal Mail (if you used them) sorting office, I had an iPod Classic there for about 7-8 days before it showed up as being delivered.

They may sometimes 'mess up' your payment aswell, I traded some PS3 games in and got deposited in my account £28 + £16 + £22, for 3 of the same items to get to my final credit total. I have no idea why aslong as I get the money I dont mind!
#33
I sent 9 wii games recorded delivery on a monday they received and signed for them on Tuesday.

Account still says unreceived and that was 9 days ago.

They claim to have a 7 day turnaround to receive your money :whistling: if only
#34
Had my stuff 11 days now. :x

Customer Services are really helpful when you ring- NOT, they say we are busy try again next week :whistling: excellent
