So I brought a macbook pro from CeX Wednesday and I have noticed there is a stain on the screen that is only really visible on dark colours but I didn't notice it when I purchased it.

It has a 12 month warranty with it. My question is can I just return it for a full refund?

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 will come into force

As as customer of CEX I know how they work and they sell and buy there items based on grades i.e quality of goods etc. Bought a hTC phone from them and they stated they sold it to me Grade B as it had some marks on it and showed me as I bought it.

You need to be aware of how item was described when you bought it. Was it second hand, new???

Answer these and I will try and help best I can but it depends on your answers as to what they can and cant do .

I run online retail business so know a lot about consumer law have to watch my back uncase of customer complaints

Tbh, CeX are a bit messy when bringing returns back, even if faulty.

Anything taken back after 2 days (last time i checked) will be swapped if they have an item in stock, or vouchers will be issued, NO CASH REFUND.

It's terrible, especially if you pay in cash, but that's CeX for you..

There will be signs instore stating this also.

@Stefone - CeX sell everything as second hand, even if new.

Thats illegal and they can get a hefty fine.

I remember 2 years ago buying a Xbox Elite from Argos and it wouldnt work and the guy said after less than 24 hours to send it back to MS which I refused then after pretty much nod budging for 15 minutes he offered me an exchange and I said I wanted a refund and after 15 minutes of more non budging and a massive queue of irate customers behind me I got a refund.

Unfortunately Sale of Goods Act won't be much use - the factors of appearances, and minor defects wont apply to second hand goods. They apply a much lower standard of quality than new goods.

They will say the stain was there at purchase and is a B grade, or what ever....

I would make sure it does not work at all (If you know what I mean) take it back, get a replacement or refund..

Also, if one of the staff members goes too close to you, go home and have a shower immediately.... What is it about CEX staff???

HI

Thanks for update, did not not realise that they sell everything as second hand even if new. But now I do and its purely for tax purposes.

I sold or should I say part ex a HTC Touch Pro 2 with them last November. Item was brand new ish, had been out of box while tested for usability for a coupl eof hours but that was it.

While out christmas shopping saw Cex store popped in had chat and manager in there offered to do good part ex deal with me, took phone back next day, complete in box nothing opened phone still had plastic protection on it from factory. One of the scrotums working in there was given the job to test it check it out whatever and then said could only offer me £xxx.xx as it had to be classed as Grade B, not sure how, was even unlocked by provider and not even network branded except the outer box. Offered me £30 less than what was offered for that particular phone but as I wanted the HTC HD i took them up.

Later on went in and found they were selling it as Grade A, as new.

Didnt tak eit lying down and after set to in shop and further on down line after making issue with Consumer Direct, Trading Standards etc and letters later was given the difference, first offered as Cex credit but then offfered cash and extra as way of apology.

Took till march this year nearly 4 months but didnt back down and got what and they actually advertised.

Dont let this get away, doesnt cost anything to try it and you might be lucky. You have rights. Doesn't matter what they put on your door or in your windows everyone no matter who they are big, small, corporate has to abide by the same rules and this relates to.

Second Hand or Brand New all item shave to clearly be marked fit for use of good quality. Would you have paid £600 for a macbook if you knew it had a faulty screen. I think not.

the sale of goods act states that any item bought that does not meet its intended purpose or does not function as intended, 2nd hand or not must be either refunded to cash or credit card (depending on how was paid for) they cannot refuse and only offer exchange or voucher, as you pay in good money they cannot refuse to give you that back if the item is found to be faulty ust threated them with trading standards and they soon back down, Iv had to do this countless times, and as a result I have stopped buying from them, if they try to say that you agree to their methods when you pay you can just say "they are my rights as a consumer and as a human" the consumer credit act clearly states this.

I bought an Apple Airport Express wireless router so that i could stream itunes from my laptop through my stereo unfortunately when i tried to install it it was incompatable with my windows 7 home premium operating system. Therefore its kinda useless to me. I returned it to the store and they point blank refuse to give ne a full refund stating compatability issues were not their problem as the item was not in itself faulty.

I want to buy a Cpu( FX-8320) from cex as I will be doing a custom Pc build but I won't be able to test the product until I have all of the components, and I won't have all of the components until atleast 6 months due to cost issues, but I just wanted to know if it doesn't work after 6 months because I couldn't test it straight away will I be able to return it and get another one? And how will I be able to prove that the product was already broken after purchase if it is damaged?

Buy it last in your shopping list before your assemble all the components.

Alternatively, ask CeX:
