I tried to trade in the new Need for Speed game today, however the lady said she couldnt accept it as its still sealed "store policy". What the hell, I offered to remove the seal myself she said no as shes already seen it. Why do they not accept new games?

no idea, i know the online when you send them in, says if they are sealed you wont get any extra for it, as they only sell it as second hand.
But not accepting that is a joke in my opinion

Love this bit!

Yeah I don't understand why they don't accept sealed games but I didn't have the problem of being refused a sale once I'd removed the seal.

Infact, the man behind the counter did it for me.

But it is a tad weird.

i saw somebody with lots of modern warfare 2's and the guy was just ripping off the seals, using the desk as a tool. Although this is stoke, anything goes.

I've taken fifa 11, black ops and medal of honor in all sealed...

the guy behind the counter was like ooh... to which I replied yeah I know a shiny...

he scanned them in and gave me £90 cash... He never even hinted towards or mentioned that they don't take sealed games

I've taken them in sealed to gamestation before and theyve taken them fine - not even checked (but I am a semi-regular, and they know theres not a mark on any of my disks).

Don't get any extra obviously.

if you look at cex online on some new games like medal of honour or fifa it has a (s) next to them means sealed they do take sealed games as ive taken in fifa and medal of honour sealed no problem

CEX is the worst trade in store in the world every time i go to trade something in there so petty its unbelievable yet when you buy something off them its in sh** condition h8 the place rather have the sometimes £1 less at gamestation have no problems there.

seems like you got served by a jobsworth ... should of just got served by someone else.

Last time I took a sealed game to Cex, they told me to take the cover off, as I started to, they said to do it outside the store and then come back in oO

The Mafia 2 collectors edition I got was supposed to be sealed but when I got it, it wasn't and the codes were used.

Same thing happened when I bought silent hill homecoming for the PC online, that was also supposed to be sealed but it wasn't either. and as it is a Steam game the product code had already been used!

The only problem I had trading in was Red Faction pc ages ago, as I had bought it from GAME and it was already unsealed they said they wouldn't take it as they had to have it sealed.

Been told the same. The reason given to me was "coz it could be stolen". To trade it in I was told I would have to bring a receipt or open it and come in again 7 days later.

Just a bad chain IMO. Bad staff, bad store condition, bad stock condition (obviously not every store but majority of opinions do say so).
They just seem like a bottom of the barrel store or last resort store to me. The only appeal I see is the occasional cheap game but then you have to roll the dice on the condition. They also tend to initially give high cash/trade prices but that only makes you have to spend it instore (trade).
