Why are the pile in the Top seeds, They had to qualify and qualify they only just did

Based on performance in tournament in last five years

But they've had to qualify for most of them, It's unfair on the other clubs
#17
I'll laugh my head off if Drogba gets it!

But surely if a team from qualifiers was consistently getting further in the CL than a auto qualified team and was getting a worse seeding this would be unfair.

By the way I am not a Liverpool fan I just think that it is the fairest rule. If I run tourney it would be winners of each domestic league, open draw with no seeding and knockout format. Suspect that this might not make as much money though.

Forward of the year - Ronaldo HeHe about time ( A non Chelscum player )

Liverpool

Winners 2005
Quarter Finals 2006
Runners Up 2007
Semi Finals 2008

Man U

First Knockout Round 2005
Group Stages 2007
Semi Final 2007
Winners 2008

Liverpool have out performed Man U in Europe, which is why they are in the top seeds

Anyone seen Rafa's two new signings today?

Rafa thinks they'll fit into Liverpudlian culture really well, one is a Japanese striker and the other an Italian Keeper

Their names are Nikamota and Robatelli.
#22
So what do you people think?

Easiest Group?

Hardest Group?
#23
Hardest: H
Easiest: B
#24
Think Chelsea have the easiest group,

There are a couple of hard groups, D, F & H

I believe all the english teams will all manage to progress
#25
Group E is an interesting one, Villareal and Celtic will be difficult but United should outclass them
#26
Chelsea and Man United should be ok - If I was an Arsenal or Liverpool fan would be a bit worried now.

Been thinking of this, Ronaldo by trade is a midfield player. So how did he win forward of the year??????

Anyone know the EUFA draw?

It's tomorrow I think. Will be difficult for celtic, if they can keep up their home form however they may just make it. I would expect at least 3rd place from them anyway. Man u vs celtic were great games last time they were both in the same group.

OK ta. That would explain why its not on the BBC website. (That and the fact there are still games being played!)

Good luck to Celtic BTW.

Ronaldo got Player of the year

I was just looking at United's fixtures and every one of their league games after a midweek European game is a tough away fixture. (See below, league fixtures in bold).

17 September - Villarreal (H)
Chelsea (A)
30 September - Aalborg (A)
Blackburn (A)
21 October - Celtic (H)
Everton (A)
5 November - Celtic (A)
Arsenal (A)
25 November - Villarreal (A)
Man City (A)
10 December - Aalborg (H)
Tottenham (A)

Somebody at the Premier League had it in for them when the fixtures were being arranged.

How do you work that one out? Are not all of those teams in Europe at the same time themselves?

Yeah the other teams are in Europe but they will have the advantage of playing the league fixtures at home in front of their fans and get an extra lift if they are feeling tired etc.

Those league fixtures are tricky enough for United under normal circumstances but add in the extra work rate, effort and travel that they will put in for the midweek games. The last thing you would like to be facing a few days later at the weekend is a trip to Arsenal or Chelsea etc. You would much prefer to be playing them at home in front of your own fans.

I'm feeling sorry for Bate Borisov already. Who thinks they'll end up with NILL POINTS?

Why would they be tired?

In any case, I just noticed, the gaps are about 2 weeks each!

This excuse lark is rubbing off a bit too much!
