Changing Baby's name

Hey guys

How easy would it be to delete a middle name for a baby? I'm not really fond of the name now and we stupidly gave her it lol

Would the process be easy/payment etc ?

Just don't use it.

When you fill in forms, omit it. Job's a good 'un.
#3
Change it otherwise it will play on your mind, do it and be at ease.
#4
Everyone is using it as a double barrel and it's so annoying me lol

We just want the middle name taken out
#5
If they are under 12 months I think you might still be able to do it at the registery office otherwise you'll need to apply for a change of name deed an average solicitors I think charge around £50-£75 quid

Don't hold me to that though I've never done it myself

Problem is if they are using it now having it changed probably won't make any difference then unless you pull them up about it.

Our friends are changing their babys first name because they have just realised it is the number one baby girl name! I mean did they not think of that before!

I agree with Greg, get it changed because it will just grate on your nerves over time.

LINK

How old is she? Sounds like it's possible to add forenames, but not change them altogether. I'd just drop it in all common usage. She'll never need it...

Just had a thought... you're in Scotland right? Much easier for you - read the link. Nope, I'm getting you confused with someone else. Move to Scotland, it's easier there.

you dont need any legal document,or any need to pay anything at all-you can call her by any name you want, and after she has been known by that name for 2 years, then that name can be used for bank accounts, school enrolement etc etc-as long as you are not using a name for fraudulent purposes you can be called anything you like. there is no need for deed poll anymore

But won't they carry on once you have changed it? I think it will seem a little odd to some when you say please don't call her that its not her name anymore.

Yeah so and so may/mae/mai is really, really over used now. That's all the girls names were in hospital, then I strolled in with Elizabeth and the ward didn't know what to say X)

I really do agree my little girls name is Kaia-mae (rose is her middle name) I really wish i never used it now as every kid seams to have a mae in their name.
#31
thats a really sweet name OP can you just not use her middle name when you speak to her or talk about her to others? with my middle name it was only ever used it i was told off, then it was my full name lol i do the same with my son now, theres been a spell of totally ridiculous names at my sons school, Tilly May, Lexi May, and a couple of others i cant even spell! oh and my middle name is May too

X)

Op, when you tell people your daughter's name do you not just say 'Katie', rather than 'Katie Leigh'? How did folks come to start calling her by both names?

Just have Katie B.....

My DD is Alex Jay, not double barrelled but is called Alex Jay by most, even the school send home letters with Alex Jay on. Im sure they feel its double barrelled I just missed the - :)

But my other DD doesnt get her middle name said at all, nor my DS, so not sure why 1st one seems to be called her name along with middle one.

I often thought of changing her whole name after I got a letter address to Master!! Its too boyish for my liking, but she is such a girly girl it doesnt bother her!
#38
I think she has two lovely names! Why does it bother you that both are used?
