Changing Isp.... to who?

I have been with aol for like ever, finished my 2 year contract now @ £20 per month as had a free laptop. They rang the other day and offered me my same package for £6.99 per month and i very nearly agreed but for another 18 months. I want out really, it disconnects quite alot and is quite slow sometimes. For the £6.99 i had to take my calls with them BUT i have done this before and the call charges were really high, so didn't want that again.

So who should i go with? I haven't got a clue, i have aol top speed at the moment. Just been looking at o2, anyone use them? But there are so many options, i don't know what i need. I use it alot and my o/h has his laptop on the wireless network too, so don't want anything slow that will take forver when we are both on.

There is also virgin, oh doesn't want to change to them though as he doesn't want to lose his sky movies :/ and sports. - I personally think its rubbish!

Any ideas who are you with? Whats all the 8mg download and all that mean?

Thanks

o2 are good, generally good speeds, and if you are on o2 contract or PAYG you get a discount, plus they may still be doing there quidco, effectively making it free.
Also, unlike most, they dont restrict speeds at certain times of day.

yes they still have their quidco offer. Just which option to go for?

I'd go for talk talk, fantastic price, speed and service. I've been with them for 5 years and it's been great, connection never drops, price is super cheap, and the speed is great (I get 18 meg).

I hadnt though of them, 18 meg what does that mean? lol

were with sky to and dont have any problems, if u already have sky they do a free broadband, but it has a connection fee and the download is restricted and its slowish, they have a £5 a month plan where the speed is better and theres more download but still a connection fee i think, and £10 a month plan that has unlimited download and the speed is supposed to be around 20meg. theyl send you out a netgear router, and the customer service aint to bad.

I'm just on the verge of moving everything over to sky as it works out cheaper but concerned about download limits. Don't suppose your on the unlimited package and have had any problems with capping etc?

to the op i'm currently at the end of my o2 contract and couldn't recommend them enough, so far they have been easily the best isp I've been with.

You were with AOL?

Go for ANY ISP suggested here or any other ISP in the UK, you would be a lot happier. Wonder how AOL is still surviving.

Im a heavy user, I did have the £5 package for over a year, and never had any problems or warnings, I have had many providers and sky is by far the best.

I recently upgraded to unlimited as at the moment you get 6 months free, but mid pack is just as good.

You need to find out which LLU supplier/s are available on your exchange, if you cannot get LLU, none of the above suggestions are of any use to you, as they will put you on a BT resold product, which costs loads more and is generally slower.
