Changing Orange PAYG to Orange PAYM SIM

I'm currently on a very old 'out here' (5 free texts a day) PAYG package with Orange but i'm spending a bit more on calls/texts these days. (around £15 PAYG) I'm thinking of changing to a pay monthly SIM only Dolphin deal £15 a month, 1 month contract 200 mins and unlimited texts. I'd also like to keep my number. I've phoned orange to ask if they still do the free orange broadband (which i already have) when you spend so much a month on a contract phone which apprently they don't.
I've never been on a phone contract before and have just been told by the guy that i have to change from PAYG to PAYM via phone to keep my number and can't do it online or anywhere else. Anybody got any advice please as i do't have the slightest clue or if i could go about getting a better deal? (i want to stay with orange too!)

Fab. After asking for my PAC code and talking to a very nice man. He confirmed i'm only actually using 159 texts a month at most (i thought it was a lot more) and so offered me, for the same £15 a month 30 day rolling contract.
300 x-network mobile minutes
unlimited landlines calls
and 1000 texts
Which suits me down to the ground
Thanks for the advice in ringing them for an offer :)
