Hey is there any TV receivers you can buy on the market that would be able to receive all cable channels from downstairs (Virgin TV) AND be able to change the channel to watch something different upstairs than downstairs? Or is the only way, to take out a 2nd box subscription from Virgin. I hope this ain't the case though. Thanks in advance!

well you can by a reciever but it is illegal to recievew all the channels even if you payin for the xl pack. the most known box is the starview range theres quite a few on ebay

you can buy a remote and sensor that can be used anywhere in the house but you have to have the same program on both t.v so if you want to watch cable channels up there and different cable channels downstairs you need 2 boxes sorry to be the bearer of bad news x

to connect ANYTHING other than the Virgin Media provided equipment is against the T&C of your contract with them

Then how much is it for a second box with them? I'm on the XL package btw. Does anyone know a link or anything? Thanks

i pay an extra £9.50 per month and i think its free install if you upgrade via their online site

The box VM attach to your wall is just a cable, buy a spitter off ebay i.e. Here for a few quid and you can attach a second box from ebay or something.

You don't have to get a starview / dbox or anything just a standard VM box would be fine, that is the only way you will be able to watch different channels, you can't watch 2 channels from a single box, it's physically not possible.

Just don't forget to change the splitter when VM come around!! Although I don't think the engineers really care!

UNless you know what you're doing though, i.e. a little FTP knowledge, how to use a Eurovox, Starview, Kryptview or Dbox, and where to get the info, most people will have problems when the keys roll, getting the right key files on in the first place etc.

For an novice I would stick to a Virgin issued box from ebay.

you need a viewing car thats PAIRED and activated by one of the Virgin installers.

to use anything else other than the officially rented equipment is against the T&Cs of your contract

the engineers may themselves not really care but the bloody paying customers do.

stop stealing cable channels that the rest of us PAY for

You cant just use any old VM box as it will not have been paired.
