Charge to block outgoing calls with BT?

So the phone bill has just come in... at £60.

I pay the bill, but do not use the phone - great.

I've rang BT and they're trying to charge me £25 for a block.

Or £2.50 per month to have a pin on

I think this stinks.

I'm thinking of binning the house phone so no one can use it,
anyone else got round this, for free

Get one of them locks that you stick on the mother socket and you have a key, when you want to use the phone you turn the key and it turn the phone on, people can still pick the phone up but they can't ring out. can't remember how much they cost these days.

BT Basic, (formerly known as BT InContact), price is approx £15 a quarter, cheaper if paying by DD. it gives 45mins worth of free calls per quarter (not alot!). you can also set a pin code request to activate outgoing calls.

you have to be in receipt of certain benfits to qualify:
Jobseekrs
income support
guaranteed state pension

hope that helps

I had a second line once, wasn't in on my bill so I called hundreds of times to those call in quiz shows and rang my g/f at the time who lived in France. 12 months later they latched on and it was cut off :)

same happened to me at my old house - used it for 2 years lol

I have this same problem with sky, we get free calls but people insist on ringing mobiles from the landline so they dont use up their mobile credit, does anyone know if it's possible to block just mobile numbers?
