Chargeable call in 12th month? - Duckmagic

Hi,

I have been reading many deals posted by duckmagic with one thing I do not understand advising to make a chargeable call in your last month to receive a 12th bill.

In all my previous contracts in some where I have not made a chargeable call and not gone over my allowance I have still always had a 12th bill.

Hope duckmagic or anyone can clarify as one of my 02 phone deals with mobileshop comes to an end in October and would not like to miss out on my 4th claim.

Has this just changed recently or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance

You should make a chargeable call during your 12th month or you won't get the last bill you'll need for your claim

I'm in the same boat here hotuk, and I was reading the old threads trying to figure this one out.

I have always sent mobileshop the bill with the corresponding number from the top right hand sde of the actual bill, and have received 2 payments so far, and I am waiting on the 3rd. I've had no problems, so I'm going to send the bill with the number 12 at the top right with my last voucher...

I think some people are sending bill number 13 - as it's the 12th airtime bill... ??

Yes Emma the bills with o2 are quite easy to understand as they put the bill number in the right hand corner. So far received two payments, 3rd confirmed by mobileshop.

I hope other networks would also number the bills.

I'm sure this has resulted from a warning I posted mid Summer. Basically, the retailer wants to see that you've been connected and paid for 12 months. Your 12th bill is a bill for month 12 and a receipt for month 11. If you're with o2 (and possibly others) and you don't have any chargeable calls during month 12, you won't get a bill for month 13 and hence no receipt for month 12. If you can find my earlier posting, it explains more fully.

It's not a problem with mobileshop.com as you can download your on-line statement after the end of month 12 and send that. (NOTE: you can now fax your cashback claims to mobileshop  ). With other companies, you have to send in the originals, hence the requirement to make a charge-able call.

Yes, it was your post I was reading Tyke.

But what I'm saying is that mobileshop accept the bill with that number at the top right... makes things very simple.

Yeah, it was really taken straight from what tyke said to be honest. Some companies want the 13th bill, and it's really just something that I put in the first deal I did and copied and pasted into the others. Sorry if it causes confusion at all. If you need any help then feel free to let us know, however I feel that I have missed my cashback claim date myself for one of my contracts, I'll have to check the bills!!

We don't have a problem with mobileshop, it's the other retailers that worry me. Here's something I've just copied from the t's and c's of another retailer:

Send the claim form and original monthly bill dated 360 days (12 months) after connection.

My point is, you won't get a bill dated 12 months after connection without a chargeable call - your last bill would be bill 12 shortly after the end of month 11. This might be a problem with this retailer, as they require an original copy of the bill.

This scenario did happen to me - I was so grateful I was with mobileshop.

if you are that confused just let the contract run to the 13th month, it's probably a small cost to pay to be guaranteed the cashback, and you still can use the minutes you've paid for etc.

I have another contract with Onestop on the Orange network and as you have probably read my earliers posts, they have been returning my 4th and 8th bill saying it's too early so I have been sending my 5th and 9th bill to receive my cashback.

So I guess, I will have to send my 13th bill to Onestop for my final claim.

Do you mean I would have to make a call on my last month to receive the 13th bill?

Thanks for your help.

o2 told me it is not policy to send out a 13th bill if there is no outstanding balance. You should check with Orange well before the end of your contract to see if they operate in the same way.
