Ideas?

Backing/ Donation from Admin?

I'm not sure how its done, but a justgiving page?
banned#3
paypal or bt to a donation account ?

Paypal or a donation account would be better than justgiving as they charge fees.

Would prefer the money to go to the kids to get them something special to remember their dad by or the family to decide but don't mind what people choose........i'm in.
#5
paypal would be easier, then send the family a cheque. i didnt really know him but happy to make a donation to his son xx
#6
Good idea setting up a separate page Greg, I felt a bit bad posting among the condolence messages especially if the family are reading through them.

Nearly everyone has a paypal account so this would be a good idea, there may of course be a better alternative.

You have our backing on this greg_68, and personally I'll be chipping in with a donation.

Wow, nice to see lovely people in here, Charlie would have greatly appreciated the gesture.

A mod/mod helper could organise? I'd suggest Chesso as she was good friends with Charlie.
#10
I would be happy to give something in remembrance, but I don't have paypal, so a donation account would be better for me.

Failing that. if the family could possibly make their wishes known, then I would be happy to just make an individual donation.
#11
I would also be interested in a donation for something for the kids/family. Let us know when anything is decided
#12
I think money to the family wife/son would be excellent. I know they wont want to be thinking of it at the minute but it might be beneficial later on. I know none of this will take away their pain, but if it helps in the slightest then it is well worth it
#13
I'll be making a donation too...

If a person offered up their personal paypal account to just pay money into (then paid out of after a set time) would members be comfortable with that.
#15
Quite happy to chip in and help in anyway, he was a lovely guy and will be sorely missed

Yep - all good from me.
#17
I'm up for it :), I owe him one.

If possible we could get Charlie Scene's autograph and give it to his family?
#18
This is best done through an official channel such as the mods. The last thing we want is an opportune scammer taking the deceased's name in vain.

Not saying anyone in this thread would, but caution to the wind.
#19
What charity is it for?
#20
I'll donate, and I'm happy for my Paypal or bank to be used. (I'm not in anyway a scammer and had alot of time for CS, I'm offering the use of my paypal or bank due to that fact of an impending TV appearance so sure if I did turn out to be scum I'd easily tracked). Failing that a MOD or even admin

I'm not paypally Marina but I agree that a helper is the way to go, if that is OK with greg who started the discussion.

Adam is happy to be invovled in the organisation and will be in here shortly.

Shouldn't people wait for further details first? I am pretty sure this is genuine but I have twice before seen death announcements on forums which turned out to be hoaxes. I do feel bad saying this, especially as his family may see it but in previous cases it was only when people asked about funeral arrangments etc as they wanted to attend that it was found to be made up.

I know this will probably make some people angry and I'm sorry for that but I think whoever takes up the responsability of fund raising should do a bit of investigation work first.

I don't think any of the mans details should be made public but I think if say juliet bravo was given proof that this has happened then it would make it easier for people.

As above the other solution would be through this company.

http://www.justgiving.com/info/fees/

At least members could track there payments and everyone could see.

Fine by me, we need to confirm that alfie and harry's mum is in touch with the family otherwise it may never get to the correct destination. Other than that go for it.

Can we use justgiving? As reading the above it seems you need a charity attached. If so 5% is a small price to be for re-assurance.
#28
Think the just giving page is a good idea, seems with the gift aid not much ( or anything ) would be lost threw a donation. As long as it goes to his family I am quite happy to do that

That is understandable, I know when we were kids at school during a role call the teacher was told that my friend wasn’t in because he was dead, and the teacher phoned his mum crying, maybe funny at the time being a kid, not so much now

I am pretty sure this is official though.

This is perfectly sensible and I'm sure that no one will be angry. A number of sources, so far, have confirmed the bad news.

We agree that fund raising is a big responsibility and I personally think that there is no great rush. We can wait until we know what his family want and Gary's remembrance is uppermost just now.

VirginMoneyGiving has lower fees.

I'm raising money for Childreach and they insist we use VMG for this reason. Every little helps...

Was just about to state this. I think a fresh thread will be created when we know what is wanted, and I think we should all respect the wishes of the family regardless.

If you use the justgiving or alike does it have to be a recognised charity and can you state which one. I thought the concensus was that we were going to donate it to the family, will justgiving work with that?

I don't think so.

Either:
via JustGiving/VMG for a charity.
via Paypal for family.
