I made a discovery the other day about how to glitch the comparethemarket website. When looking for a quote answer EVERYTHING truthfully then when it comes to add a modification add that you have BRAIDED BRAKE HOSES on your car, make sure its Fully comprehensive, upon your search a company called "eCar" should provide you with a quote for less than £200...more specifically £183.75. Others have come up between £200-£300. I don't know if comparethemarket.com does quidco or not.
The braided brake hoses cost about £50 and installing them won't be expensive either.
Give it a try and let me know how you got on.
Be quick, glitches don't last long

Knock about £700 off your insurance quote. Cold deal eh!!!!
Did you even try it? I did and it worked fine and the payment went through. I brought insurance from ecar for £183.75.
Before voting cold/ commenting, actually try it and you will see it works...
imagine if this actually works
wow
Did you add BRAIDED BRAKE HOSES modification?
mine was 175 quid
wothout braided brak hoses
Just a warning... You would have to make sure you have the hoses fitted before you take out the insurance. If anything happens and their inspector sees you don't have the hoses you'll be up the creek. Not only will you be out of pocket due to the fact they won't pay out, you'll be facing court for driving without insurance (as your policy would be void due to the lack of the hoses).
Thanks for that. I hope people read original post properly and follow the instructions and then vote.
i was saying YOU were quoted over 4k - that was the bummer. hopefully they will honour your insurance quote, as I have had a low quote from a comparisson website and after recieving confirmation, they called me and said they could no longer honour the quote.
heat and rep.

Comparison sites taint credit rating, says report
Consumers who apply for financial products too often through comparison websites may risk damaging their credit rating, research has suggested.
It is estimated that 8.7 million people have used comparison websites to buy financial services products such as credit cards and insurance over the past year.
However, a report published yesterday showed that the sites could be leading consumers to adversely affect their credit rating.
Bristol Business School's Professor Merlin Stone, the author of the report, said many of the comparison, or aggregator, sites concentrated on price rather than quality of service or suitability of a product.
As a result, consumers were drawn in to applying for unsuitable products for which they were consequently rejected.
"It is misleading to encourage people to apply for a rate which they will not qualify for and which in turn will impact their credit score," said Prof Stone.
Although rejections are not held on a person's credit record, applications for credit do show up as "footprints".
James Jones, consumer affairs manager at credit rating company Experian, said: "All the applications you have made for credit over the past 12 months will show up on your credit report.
"When a lender carries out a credit check they will see those applications and if there are a large number of them it may make them think that you are desperate for credit, or it may even look as though someone has been fraudulently trying to apply for credit in your name," he said.
According to MoneyExpert.com, the financial comparison site that commissioned the report, 2.8 million people have made applications for 3.5 million financial products over the past year. Around 6% of people have been rejected when applying for credit cards, mortgages and loans.
MoneyExpert.com has launched a credit profiling service that allows consumers to tailor their search so that only those credit providers whose lending criteria suits their credit rating appear on the list.
Financial comparison site moneysupermarket.com has a similar tool. In both cases, the profile is based on the consumer's answers to questions about their history and no footprint is left on the consumer's credit record.
Prof Stone called on all comparison sites to offer a similar service and to warn customers about the potential damage to credit rating that could be done by making too many applications.
He said the sites should improve their offer to consumers by being more transparent on fees and charges imposed by providers and by broadening the focus of sites to include service and features other than price.
Consumers can check their credit record for a nominal fee with credit reference companies Experian, Equifax and Callcredit.
Or £1400 off my renewal and its due in 2 weeks!
Thanks mate. Yes you can cancel you old insurance, may charge for the 3 days you been insured though. My cousin cancelled his insurance with tesco and they will give him refund minus the time his been insured which is about 2 weeks. His insurance was £1100 but his going to pay £185 with this deal.
haha lot of money for an old vectra
sure will!
No, for the same reason if you insured your contents insurance to include an Omega watch and you claimed for a casio.
You have paid an 'extra' premium to have the hoses on there. If you don't have them it makes no odds. Imagine if you'd paid the extra insurance cover for 1k worth of alloys and the assessor comes round to find the standard wheels on the car. Are they going to invalidate your policy? No.
Loads of hoses on ebay
Wait tillyou have a claim and see if they pay up. One glich discovered - you then owe addtional premium for your claim to be "even" considered. Not my opinion, but the opinion of the insurance industry Deffo COLD
Also anyone checked the terms and conditions on there website ??
Hope it is true for everyone but makes not a lot of difference to me. Like someone says it is no doubt a glitch and will be found out soon enough
So you don't think braided hoses have safety advantages over normal rubber ones?
Fitted by someone in their garage? Cheap unbranded stuff from china? Fitted by the kwikfit monkeys?
No. It's a MODIFICATION. Therefore increasing the premium over the STANDARD car.
EDIT: I've just done one of these quotes... the cheapest difference for my partners car, 28, Golf GTI with 9 years no claims went up from £181 for standard to £260 with "braided hoses"
I own 2 highly modified grey imports and pay less than £1k for both as second is in my partners name.
