The cheap tickets are released 12 weeks before the date you want to go, so if you can book 12 weeks in advance. This is the way I always book them and get really cheap tickets :o)

try National Express

http://www.nationalexpress.com/

sometimes they have seat for £10 return but no harm in getting a quote free from there site

buy a family railcard - if you missed out on the freebie - save a third
http://www.familyandfriends-railcard.co.uk/

also usually get lots of bogofs for madame tussauds etc

this is a good site to find freebie days out - etc

how long are you going for? Are you staying in London at all?

National express are doing fares from 99p each for the 2nd week in August. so for a family or four, it would cost you £36 return for the whole family - only thing you would need to travel Bournmouth to pick up the coach and the times are ridiculous really (ie: 3am from Bournouth)

Otherwise, for reasonble times is £63 for 2 adults, 2 kids. Please confirm numbers.

By train from Templecombe is likely to cost around £90 for 2adults, 2 kids (or £51 with a railcard which atm, costs £26 which will see you save straight away as the standard price is £9 without a Railcard)

I take it its just YOU and 2 KIDS!? (Ages please) ... The train from Templecombe to London is your best bet imo. No messing with cars, and your straight into London on the train.

This site will also help with loads of 2for1s ... http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/

Edit for 1 Adult and 2 Kids, its a £36.40 a day return with F&F RC (Priced at £26) -- or £70 without a Railcard.

When are you going then? if you haven't already purchased your RC check this forum for possbile discount codes (maybe 5-10% valid ones). What are you looking to do whilst in London. You may need a travel pass for the tube, so let me know what you're doing and I'll have another look for the best option

well this saturday we probably gonna do some shopping harrods and such like take a look at buck palace have a walk along the river and look at big ben and try and fit in a look around Natural History Museum (kids seen this on tv) . have a meal somewhere nice and travel back home.
in the summer holidays try and fit in more museums and im sure my daughter will insist on more shopping lolz. basically all the touristy type things in the summer oh and maybe see one of the shows but i'll let the kids decide on most things , hope to go 2 or 3 times over the summer holidays , thats if they enjoy it . but getting the travel card was a great idea i never thought of it so thx very much ..

will you get the railcard back in time to travel on Saturday. Its a great little way to save a lot especially when you're travelling 3 + times over the summer.

There are good deals on the London Eye/Thames River Cruise as well which is acutally next to Madam Tussauds on the South Bank. Not sure if you like cooking etc, but Brough Market ( @ London Bridge Tube) is where Masterchef use and its a brill market - loads going on and the fruit/veg is the best ever.

There is also the London Tour Bus which you could do as well...

well they said on the phone that i should get it for saturday (if i order online) it only takes 2 working days and if it does'nt arrive i can use the e-mail i got to use as proof of purchase .
so ive already booked the tickets for this saturday saying i have the railard :)

bus tours look good for the summer i just looked at those online
