passports and visas

Passports are required for all international flights and should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the length of stay. EU and EEA nationals (EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and Swiss nationals are permitted to enter any EU/EEA member state on production of a valid national passport or national identity card.A passport is not required for travel between Great Britain and Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. However, passengers travelling with bmi are required to bring either a passport or some form of acceptable photographic identification when travelling between the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Please see acceptable forms of photographic ID, below. Follow the link for more information about acceptable forms of ID.

Get a train?

it'll cost twice as much, lots of changes and take twice as long.

I take that back. Just did a search for huddersfiled to southampton on the train.

Cheapest fare £124 EACH!

Duration - 6 hours!

What a joke.

Hi

I just typed you a reply but it didn't register not sure what happened! Have you tried Megabus? They operate a coach route from Leeds and Wakefield to London. Also a train or coach from London Waterloo to Southampton Central and tickets start from a £1 each. You could spend less by staying the night in London and returning the following day. I quickly checked Feb 27th returning Feb 28th and the travel (exc Huddersfield to Leeds or Wakefield) can be done for between £30 and £40. You can get a room in Victoria for around £50 a night (booking.com) and spend the savings on a show in town which might not make it such a chore for your little one! :)

If you're flexible with your dates try the megabus website as you might be able to get it down even more if you can find more £1 tickets. I found Leeds or Wakefield to London for a £1 per person and also London to Southampton, it was the return tickets that pushed the cost up. Hope this is useful - goodluck!

Can i ask why you are going by train when it takes so long and costs more and you will probably need to stay overnight unless you are starting out at 6-7AM. Just intrigued why you asked for flight details which were supplied but you are getting the train anyway. It seems far more hassle being 5-6 hours in duration with 3 connections. Imagine the hassle if a train is late causing you to miss a connection.

I GOT CONFUSED AND WAS LOOKING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION LOL.
i did i though i was going to brockley and not brockhurst so thought hey its ony 3 hrs but it isnt, it was nearly 6.
i am going to have to re think. the price is good for mega bus but i think so long on a abus with a child with adhd will top me off i think.

on expedia for 280 we can stay in a hotel in southampton, so that might be best for us.
thanks
