Depends where you want to go? and what sort of package you want?

October is a long way away... maybe wait near the time and book somewhere at lastminute.com that way it will be the cheapest.

benidorm will probably be a bit hit & miss for weather in late october. Its far from a relaxing holiday destination too :-D

if you want spain, try the canary islands, as these could still be nice october time, or cyprus, egypt

If you ARE thinking of Cyprus, i can also strongly recommend teh Napa Plaza and also the olympic lagoon in Ayia Napa.
Been to Napa a few times and went last year in August but again the year before but went in october. Weather was beautiful and so was the hotel.
You cant go wrong with the napa plaza if you want a NICE hotel to stay at and it's right in the middle of where you want to be.
We are 30 + 35 and loved it as im sure your bf will too :)

Suggesting this as you say moneys tight.
Think certain newspapers are running their holiday offers again where you collect tokens daily in exchange for a cheap mobile home holiday. They offer a selection of overseas offrs as well. Could use one as a base for a holiday perhaps. Not sure who if anyone is doing this right now but they are offered periodically through The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Express. Maybe others.

Wherever you do decide to go, make sure you check out the hotel on tripadvisor first :)

Speaking from recent experience I would say that late offers aren't always that great anymore. Holiday companies have scaled back on the number of untis they have in each hotel and many airlines offer cheaper prices early on. Make sure you don't do half-term week in October unless you really have to as the prices go up loads. Sometiems early deals are great and have very low deposits. What about a city break, use Ryanair or Easyjet and find somewhere that has cheap flights, then you can usually find some nice hotels. For my stag do a couple of years ago we all went to Budapest for 3 nights for not much over 100 quid each flight and hotels.
